I’d love to see threads like this keep popping up until Blizzard realizes players are looking for something more. There are definitely opponents to permanent visage because “reasons” which bear just as much weight as reasons to implement it.
For anybody with the argument: “But only dragons can do dragon things”
Well, in Warcraft, the dragons can take the form of a tree if they want to (in the lore). So they can easily make themselves look like an elf, gnome or whatever they choose to express themselves as (just like the quests in DF tell you).
I hope anybody reading this deep into the thread realizes this doesn’t have to be a game where players are always pigeonholed into something because of a minority’s misguided thinking and look outside the box a bit.

The lore is created out thin air just last expansion. The paint isn’t even dry and far from sacrosanct. All blizz needs to do is say it’s so, and it will be so. They have that power.

Interesting that even suggesting better looking dragon forms doesn’t sway some people off of this. I’m forced to agree with Lynary that people advocating for permanent visage forms are just looking for another elf class to play.

If they let me play evoker as an orc with those scale and horn customizations, I would subscribe for a year and buy a race change. I kid you not.

But let’s expand on that. What if I want to play a priest but with evoker graphics? Should it be possible?
WOW would lose all semblance of visual coherence.
Green penance bolts, green wings for apotheosis. Life form (instead of shadow.)
Like you know, just retheme everything.
Oh hell yea, I’d race change mine too lol.

Not being facetious, but can you explain how your idea implies I was asking for anything of the sort?
There’s nothing wrong with that ask.
As long as you fully accept that when you’re in combat you’re in dragon form.
WOW classes untethered to pesky visuals so people can finally be free to play anything they want to.
Give everyone access to RGB colors, color everything yourself.
Sorry I still don’t see how this is remotely similar to the discussion about visage form and spells being tied to a dragon body only.
Pretty sure he’s just pushing a slippery slope argument, saying the dragon spells on anyone will lead to “worse” in his mind. My guess.
Letting everyone play the way they want, no more minority gatekeepers.
If I want giant pink butterfly wings while I press Apotheosis. it should be my right.
Ew. Gross. Why do you just ruin everything.

I’m all for devil’s advocate and slippery slopes, but you have to draw a line connecting the beginning of the slope to the end instead of just being on the bottom of a completely different slope that’s unrelated.

But you’re arguing that not letting evokers have permavisage is gatekeeping.
And I’m saying we should let everyone look however they want. And if you have an issue with that, why?
The opposite extreme. nothing matters. MAX fun for all.

You’re bringing up points that are tangential to what’s being discussed here. Relevant, but not relevant in how you’re presenting your point.
Nobody is asking for anything absurd or wild when requesting for a permanent visage form.
Butchering what little logical lore remains in favor of gameplay is really a shame. If story coherence matters so little, then why does Blizzard even bother creating quests, dungeons, and raids with detailed backstories for the monsters we fight?
Are we heading towards a story as generic as the one presented in the latest Chronicle book, where the words hero or champion are simply replaced with player?
As for this possibility, I fully support adding other races to the visage form. After all, it has never made much sense that dragons are restricted to a single appearance when they have always had the ability to take on whatever form they desire.

But I am asking for the absurd.
It would be more fun, for me. Let me color everything to my taste.

Personally I wouldn’t care if Blizz did that, but Blizz doesn’t have a track record of dialing up the game to max player creativity. This is why the thread is about 1 thing that already exists about 75% of the way there as it is.
