Pft. Did druid expanding on it’s race restrictions take anything away from night elves and tauren? No, they are exactly the same as always. Because why would blizzard delete what it has when adding more?
Again, created to facilitate draconic abilities of the class. Blizzard needing to create that race in order to make flying abilities possible is aptly demonstrated by the alternatives provided in this discussion.
Again, a random item or toy created for laughs and giggles isn’t the basis for actual WoW classes. The purpose of the Evoker class is give players the ability to be a playable version of the dragon aspects. The purpose of the class is not to be some weirdo flying around the screen like superman shooting magic out of their mouths.
Who cares if it’s a toy or consumable. The point is it was added in the game for player expression and I would imagine Blizzard wants players to have that expression. What is the benefit of limiting player satisfaction?
(Because this gatekeeper won’t be happy unless you aren’t happy.)
The difference is that adding Tauren, Trolls and other races didn’t break the central purpose of the druid class: Shapeshifting. A Tauren or Troll Druid was still required to shapeshift in order to be a Druid.
What you’re advocating here for the Evoker is akin to Druids performing Guardian or Feral abilities without having to switch to Bear, or Cat form.
I honestly think he’s trolling (or gigabrain baiting because he feels the same as us and is perpetuating this thread into relevance with continued argument)
You’re absolutely adorable, really! I have my own opinion on this request, but since it doesn’t affect gameplay in any way, why not?
In the end, it’s just like the players who have been refusing for years to allow an optional tail for Worgen. According to them, any spell drawing from draconic magic should only be cast in dragon form, as anything else would go against the established lore—whether in WoW or collective imagination.
I look forward to seeing you again in ten years, still making the same request to Blizzard.
Oh, and for those who desperately want Evokers to be available to other races than Dracthyr… Before asking for that, maybe start by making the same request for other classes, especially DH! (Though, I suppose DH get a free pass since they’re Elves…)
Good, the dragon form should have never been mandatory. It’s hideous.
Like the lore in this game hasn’t already been retconned in the dirt, with trash lore.
I can’t stop you from pretending you have foresight or can see the future… but I don’t feed into weird theories or slippery slope arguments.
Did glyph of stars really hurt you so?
Ahh, it’s good to know that I’m not the only one who notices that.
Then advocate for a better looking dragon form.
Like the lore in this game has been already been retconned in the dirt, with trash lore.
That is completely your opinion.
I will let other people fight that battle, mostly because I don’t find dh all that fun. Unlike evoker, which would easily become my main of it wasn’t for the trash lizards.
That’s racial lore which I could give two poops about. What I’m talking about is the purpose of a class, and the thematics expressed by said class. We have a dragon class based on WoW’s dragons, and that class’ concept relies on the character being a dragon to perform its abilities.
The main reason being that if you cease to make the dragon form mandatory, then the dragon abilities attached to the dragon form become optional. Then the class being exclusive to Dracthyr becomes optional and we start getting new lore to explain how a Tauren can be an Evoker. Before you know it we have more class homogenization and less class variety because you want to be a flying elf for some reason.
It only took 20 mins to suddenly care about lore.
I’m not advocating for that, I’m advocated for true visage form.
and so is everything you’ve said so far.
Not at all. Glyph of Stars works for Balance since Moonkin is simply casting spells and doesn’t require unique animations reliant on being a giant space chicken.
However, Feral and Guardian require Bear and Cat form.
Just like Evoker requires the Dragon form.
There ya go!
Again, class lore versus racial lore. The purpose behind a class and its design versus the whims and motivations of a particular race.
Then advocate for a better looking dragon form.
Why is this the only option? Your mind just can’t get past this one idea for some reason.
It’s the only option because you’re talking about a dragon class that requires a dragon form.
The dracthyr have magic to maintain a visage. Blizz can just say they can maintain it in combat if they wanted to and enable a toggle for players to keep it always on, semi on, always off etc.
