Just like you not understanding that they already said that you can either wait in queue or transfer, they aren’t going to do anything.
And it won’t exist in classic either.
There are so many ways to handle this issue.
Some of my friends play another MMO and people can freely move from one server to another there, there’s almost no delay and there’s no cost and there is no cap to it.
There are no queues there even though the total population of that game is bigger than classic.
Yeah, this wouldn’t be “no changes” but there weren’t 30k servers back in the 00’s either. Times have changed, solutions need to evolve too.
If people are stuck on a big server it’s because they don’t want to take a risk with a smaller server because there’s a cooldown to server transfers and a cost.
If blizzard made them free and removed the cooldown people would be able to sort themselves and figure out where they wanted to be and the population would spread out more.
Truly increasing capacity would take time and money.
This is a small indie company.
They’re a bit busy investigating themselves for sexual harassment and drinking on the job. Please cut them some slack.
The fix wouldn’t fit into their vision of what they want classic to be. Unfortunately, they listen to a small minority of players.
Options for an issue blizzard created by allowing servers to get overloaded because they wanted money.
Obviously we have to deal with the situation they created, but it never had to be an issue in the first place. Greed drove it to this point.
Now you’re arguing the semantics of how to navigate an issue not caused by players. You also think the players should solve the problem created by financial greed.
Are you going to acknowledge the root cause of all this, or keep droning on about how it’s all player side. Are you satisfied with the “options” blizzard has given you as a monthly subscriber? Or are you just smitten with subpar services you pay monthly for.
I’ll make it easy for you.
SERVER HAS CAPACITY. LETS ALLOW 2X THE CAPACITY OF SERVER BY SELLING XFER. NO SERVER LOCK = PLAYER ISSUE
(Not strange at all they swiftly locked servers after they collected all the xfer money hahaha)
So if the hardware is at it’s limits, it sounds like the problem really is mega-servers. The players share some fault for overpopulating them, and Blizzard shares some fault for letting them.
Wait, transfer, or quit.
Sorry
So, 8 months ago when Benediction didn’t have a queue should it have been locked so nobody could join their friends their because they knew in 8 months populations will get high for Wrath?
Or maybe if you haven’t logged into Benediction for 3 months you count as still being locked out to prevent people who quit from coming back and adding to the queue?
No, retail does NOT do this. Retail randomly shards you about with no control where you are as a player. This is not the same thing as being able to choose where you go on a moment-to-moment basis. Retail’s system means you will likely never see the same person twice, as you’ll both just randomly be jerked around from shard to shard each time you log in, while in ff14 and gw2, if you move yourself over to a specific server, you will see the people who also moved to that server consistently.
This also means that, if you make friends on another server during those peak times when your main server has a queue, you can always just go back and visit them later on.
I want to say I’m surprised not many people have engaged in this suggestion, but I guess most of the people here are just interested in being upset rather than looking for reasonable solutions.
Player controlled realm visiting is the perfect solution, as you preserve realm identity and community, while still allowing players to freely move around, engage in, and participate in said communities without limitation.
The more I see it suggested more I am convinced that just letting people freely move would solve the issue.
But there’s one big problem, Blizzard currently monetizes server transfers.
Well, that’s the root of the problem at blizzard, isn’t it? They prioritize short term financial gains at the expense of the long term health of their products.
Aren’t they offering free xfers currently, and have been fairly consistently?
This is why I complain about q’s.
two decade
yah but you get in game mail from NPCs and cant transfer with an active mail box
oh yeah that’s trash for sure, really dumb restriction.
I took a walk outside
ive been in que for 8 hours on Faerlina , where am i supposed to walk? Across the state?
Except it was.
I can go to the store and buy 3 bottles of whisky. Whose fault is it if I drink all 3?
Agreed. Players rolling on them, seeing that they have massive queues within days of launch if not the same day, staying after the situation worsens. Staying for multiple expansions. Expecting the situation to improve after being told by the dev team it will worsen still. Being surprised. Complaining on the forums. So, yes I agree. Mega servers aren’t the problem, you and your choices are.
