TL;DR: The mob ‘Caustic Mechaslime’ in the zone ‘Mechagon’ is not dropping the item ‘Blueprint: Utility Mechanoclaw’ and thus the achievements ‘Junkyard Architect’ and ‘Mecha-Done’ are unobtainable. We need, and we deserve, some official information acknowledging this.
Background:
According to Wowhead, the item ‘Blueprint: Utility Mechanoclaw’ has a 27% drop rate off of the rare spawn ‘Caustic Mechaslime’. This rare spawn is one who is only available for 5 minutes at a time during the DR-CC73 drill rig event, which itself is not always up even on days that drill rigs are active. This blueprint is very important as it is required for completion of the achievement ‘Junkyard Architect’, which itself is required for the very time-consuming meta-achievement ‘Mecha-Done’. ‘Mecha-Done’ rewards the ‘Keys to the Model W’ mount which is very sought after and takes a player months of daily Mechagon visits to obtain.
The Issue:
For months now, this item has not been dropping for anyone I’ve ever seen. I sent a ticket in with this issue asking to please speak to a representative and got a response while I was offline (of course) saying “It still drops! It’s just that there’s many layers of RNG - 1) Having drill rigs active on a given day, 2) ‘DR-CC73’ specifically becoming active, and 3) Having the item drop. Keep going, you’ll get it!” No, I won’t, because it’s not dropping.
I agree that there is a lot of RNG just in order to gain access to/kill the mob but that doesn’t explain that even after GETTING TO THE MOB there are hundreds cumulative attempts between myself and others I’ve spoken to or read about online, and not a single drop has been reported in months. This has been reported on Wowhead and on these forums multiple times with players begging Blizzard to pay attention, we are yet to succeed.
What We Need (and, frankly, deserve):
We NEED a Blizzard representative to give the player base here SOMETHING, literally ANYTHING, saying that you hear us… Or even “Yes, it is working as intended we did our due diligence here and can confirm that it is possible.”
I don’t need to know why it happened, I don’t need to know when it will be fixed, but we as a player base do at least deserve to know that it is, or more likely is not working as intended and is on their radar. There are so many posts on this because of the sheer grind just to try to get this drop, only to come up short every time, all the time. We are all wasting our time, and we all probably know it, but Blizzard is gaslighting us that the mount still drops so we keep trying.
PLEASE BLIZZARD, GIVE US ANY SHRED OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT HERE.
I agree. I’ve yet to see this blueprint drop off Caustic Mechaslime, and I see the same people farm CC73 every time it’s up. This BP is one of the last items needed for me to achieve Mecha-Done. It would be nice to know if someone could take a closer look at this to determine if it really is a bug or not.
CS may say that this is still on the loot table, but that doesn’t mean that the loot table or whatever mechanism uses it is working properly.
If nobody’s looted this thing since pre-patch (at least), then something must be wrong, and I really, really hate that my sense of completing something is keeping me from DF for what is supposed to be a 27% drop rate.
I second this. I have been killing this mob for the past months (sometimes multiple times a day) and this is literally the last thing that is needed (Blueprint: Mechanoclaw) to get the mount and achievement.
Even if this is a 1% drop someone should have collected the drop by now.
I’ve gotten several of the trinkets that are apparently a 0.9% drop rate. If I got several of those in the last few months, certainly someone should have gotten a blueprint by now.
I just want to add something else I noticed. From my understanding rares should only give reputation gains the first time you kill them, however, I’ve noticed that Caustic Mechaslime gives me 75 rep for my first kill of the day even though I have already downed it many times in the past. I wonder if this is part of the potential bug that’s affecting the blueprint drop. I will pay more attention to this going forward to confirm if I continue getting the rep.
I just killed Caustic 3 more times today, and the first kill gave me rep (no blueprint drop, of course). I discovered you can also loot Gear-Cruncher (the rare from CC61) multiple times per day as well, and it also gives you rep for the first kill of the day. I wonder if any of the Blueprints Gear-Cruncher drops are bugged as well. It’s not as big of a deal for this rare as the Blueprints can be obtained from other sources. This is not the case for Caustic. The Utility Mechanoclaw can only be obtained from Caustic. If Blizzard isn’t going to investigate this potential bug further then at least throw us a bone, and make it a part of the upcoming Trading Post or something.
This is now officially the last blueprint I need after obtaining the Emergency Robot Chicken today. Has anyone heard of a Utility Mechanoclaw BP drop from anyone recently???
I killed Mechaslime at least 10 times the last time he was up on my server. No blueprint. Drill Rigs haven’t been up the last couple of days, and there was one day last week I didn’t check (real life interference lol).
Statistically, someone should have gotten it since October, but we see nothing but reports of people not getting it. People I’ve spoken to on my server haven’t gotten it either.
Unless the drop rate is .00000001%, I think this is broken. Same thing with the Murmur pet and one of the old achievements in Ulduar.
Another 5-6 kills so far today, and no blueprint drop. Nobody else that has been there for the kills has reported a drop either. Submitting another bug report. This is getting really deflating at this point.
Yep that’s where I’m at. I don’t have hours to spend waiting for a drill rig that shows up a quarter as much as the other ones, just to kill a boss that doesn’t drop the item anyway. Gonna need 1 person to show some proof before I do it again. We’ll probably never get mecha-done, let’s be real.
