I think there isn’t a single person in this thread that disagrees with the perspective that sending death threats over any form of communication is unacceptable.
It’s inevitable though if you mess around on the internet. Dude was toxic leading up to this happening, dude has been toxic for a very long time. Maybe he will change his behaviour going forward, maybe he will play the victim forever. Who cares.
It’s a hot topic, but it meets the criteria of the English definition of what a job is; heck the IRS will be more than happy to tax it too.
Income from illegal activities, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be included in your income on Form 1040, line 21, or on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ (Form 1040) if from your self-employment activity.
Now… what idiot would file that is well special but hey it’s available.

Shouldn’t this be ringing alarm bells with how much influence third party addons to a sixteen year-old game is having on ‘mature’ players?
No? We’re going to keep being irrational?
Ok.
So pedantic lol. I am starting to think you are a drug dealer that has an internal conflict with doing what you need to do to survive. Just be at peace, it is what it is. Crime is crime, work is work, welfare is welfare.
edit: It’s not a hot topic and never will be though. I think only a criminal would feel that way.
No, no alarm bells, rational people just used alternatives
A certain percentage of the gaming community is highly committed, highly opinionated, highly emotional, and has neither self-control nor people skills.
If there really have been death threats, the authorities should be following up. They do take these things seriously.

Well, C. Golden allegedly recieved threats just for the art on her Twitter page. Is this truly surprising?
That would have been the way I’d have handled it from the beginning. If the project was becoming too much of a hassle to deal with and players who aren’t even paying me are being douchebags about it, I’d have stopped working on it and told them to go to hell. Let those cheap/lazy idiots figure it out on their own.

They already did. There are duplicate addons now.
More like just an email or phone call from blizz.
Right, just use it for personal use or his friends. I’m guessing he is benefiting some way though, just from notoriety of the addon, else why would he keep doing it?
Imagine calling out sexism.
But you expect that just because someone is a man. He can’t show emotions.
Were human beings. Why does gender have to exclude the emotional factor?
I mean, we don’t want to enforce gender stereotypes, do we? Guys can get depressed and sad as much as you do.
Look, I don’t disagree with what you are saying. The guy Nnogle does show signs of mental illness and sexism.
Addon influence has nothing to do with the WoW community.
It’s always been like that since day one. Literally.
I don’t know why you don’t see this in a game that has been sixteen years-old.
Yea it does. If Blizzard banned Simulators, DBM, or any of the other ‘required’ addons; or if they try to monetize their own work; this community would lose its mind.

So before we walk away… what do you think a pharmacist is?
if they banned these addons. People will find another way to check your progression or ilvl even if it meant finding it in external sources.
Still also doesn’t stop the EL33Tz kid from inspecting your achievements and gear. And that doesn’t require an addon.
Nothing remotely close deserves to have ‘death threats’ as back lash.
Yes his attitude was rough after they lost and such. Who knows what that person was going through.
Hopefully he’s ok and can bounce back.
People don’t need to resort to threats of any kind for an addon of all things. Sheesh.
If they banned an addon by itself, there wouldn’t be much fuss because a different addon with the same function would quickly fill its place. Even DBM isn’t the only boss mod addon, some people use Bigwigs instead.
If they banned the functionality/APIs behind the addon, there could be a fuss depending on what it is.
Not an illegal drug dealer. The opposite, someone who is very educated and legally licensed to provide people access to legal medicine.
Their profit is not based on the sales of prescription medication or over the counter medication. They are just a professional medium within a greater healthcare system.
What way do you think this world operates?
