MDT justice

The problem is that Blizzard is designing around the assumption that people are using the addon.

The new Prideful affix is a perfect example. You’re supposed to have the buff before bosses or the Most Difficult Trash Pulls in each instance, but in order to have the mob count be JUST RIGHT you need to pre-plan out the entire run in advance. Otherwise you won’t get Pridefuls at the right time.

Personally, this is what I hate about the design of the Prideful affix, because if somebody butt-pulls even 1 tiny mob that wasn’t in your plan, the whole run on a 10+ is screwed in terms of Prideful buffs. Most dungeons are laid out in such a way that re-adjusting the mob count and mob count sequence on the fly to get back on track is often just not possible.

If Blizzard provided a planning tool with mob counts so we could do this without the addon, that would be great. But they don’t.

Every heard the phrase too many cooks in a kitchen? You want to see some addon you loved warped pass it around to different authors who all have different visions and different ways to address problems and create new content.

Lol, I don’t know about you, but I literally couldn’t tell you the name of a single addon author.

You sound old. Do you also thing being a youtube personality can’t be a job? Maybe a video game designer isn’t a real job either.

If I had to make a blind wager I would say that being a single addon author probably isn’t enough work to constantly require your attention or require 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year to say the least, but if you were involved in many addons across multiple games it could easily take up your time.

Call it whatever you want , im still done using his addon . For me , he’s the same kind of people that Flips ps5 and Xbox series X , purell and toilet paper , 2020 gpus …

While i don’t do death threats , these greedy humans really need to change for the better , just sad that they need that much verbal abuse to even light up about what they’re doing wrong .

can I call it a gig? a part time job? it’s not like you cut and paste some code from SO, spit on your palms, rub them together and done. Some addons require literally months of development.

lua seems like easy language, and if you do couple liners, yeah, it is simple and easy.

If you think threatening to kill someone over an addon in a game is acceptable and normal then you are the one with a problem.

I dont know how someone can be so morally bankrupt to defend the action of threatening to murder another human being over a gaming addon. Whatever he did the community looks worse. People refusing to use the addon… fine… people outright copying the addon and renaming it ManBabyDungeonTools… hilarious… threatening to end the life of another person… reprehensible. There is NO defending it. Period. It is AWFUL for the community to do such a thing and those accounts should obviously be banned if found and referred to police for potential prosecution (which they often do).

Strict punishment of bad deeds? Yeah I think that would lead to better people in the future. If you tell people that stealing is good. Then you get a lot of stealing. If you tell people stealing is bad and punish them for doing it you get less stealing. This shouldn’t be too hard to follow…

I feel like once a person gets big enough in terms of followers they should get some professional training on how to handle/avoid internet nastiness. Because it’s going to happen sooner or later.

I used to work for a marketing firm that helped small business fight off online trolls that leave malicious comments and reviews, so I know there must be similar services offered to streamers and such.

Did I ever express that I felt it was acceptable? It’s inevitable yes, acceptable no. So many delusional people out there though. Don’t play with fire and you won’t get burned by someone hiding behind several layers of anonymity on the internet like they will always be able to.

It’s just common sense. You can label me a bad person for not being out of touch with reality, I don’t care.

Death threats are bad. That said…

I’m skeptical of the claims of death threats (and the allegedly falsified screenshots), it just sounds like deflecting blame and blaming everyone except himself for what happened. Refusing to admit that he brought it upon himself.

But then again, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was real. So it could go either way.

It kind of is, tell me your favorite addon and I’ll give you estimate to how much it “cost” in development resources.

I dunno guy said he recieved 1000’s of death threats yet provided no evidence and when asked too said he couldn’t as deleted (we all know they can be recovered in about 2 seconds) sounds like a cop out pity excuse if you ask me.

It doesn’t matter how much it cost, it’s not a job and never will be a job. It’s a hobby for a video game they love to play. It makes playing the video game for them more enjoyable. Everyone who makes an addon, uses it themselves. It simply makes sense to share it. Lots of people make addons they don’t share. I have plenty that I’m not going to tell you about, why would I care to share my secret addons that I made myself for myself? It’s my passion.

It’s his product. His work. He can, and should be able to charge for it.

Don’t like it, don’t use it. But death threats? Please. Save those for the "I don’t like the McRib thread…

I like your helm. It suits you.

He’s breaking the rules by charging for it. Also, there was an alternative with a pretty clever name up very quickly - so his work isn’t even unique.

I’ve always been curious about the impact internet threats can really make on someone because it seems like it’d be easy to ignore and not that I’ve ever been on the receiving end of them I think I’d have a hard time taking them seriously.

If anything I assume the reason buckle to the pressure is the sheer amount of grief they get. If you want an example of some of it go look at what happened in Classic to certain guilds or streamers. Madseason talked about how finding a BG grind group for R14 was difficult due to being well known, some groups literally didn’t want to bring him for fear of retaliation, some streamers just got camped endlessly in the open world, and I remember a server publicly rejoicing over succeeding in forcing a recently transferred guild to transfer off back off their server. The reason the guild was camped was simply because they were impacting the 50:50 ratio their server had and they wanted to preserve that.

I think making an addon for someone else’s pre-established video game with millions of subscribers is not a job. That’s all. It’s a hobby. They could turn it into a job by making their own game with their own knowledge of UI, but until then it’s just a hobby. They are playing with someone else’s product and we’re all lucky that blizzard enables addons to work. Most games, it’s bannable to mess wtiht he game files.

If MDT was able to get away with this, WoW might in the future be forced to disable the capability of addons altogether. Is that what you want?

Thanks I really liked the SL robe set and crafted gear set. Nice for those of us who dont farm mogs to get good looking sets for leveling.

Oh, indeed, think nothing of it.
