Mature Language Filter and Social Contract

Point out where I called anyone a name.

Oh, that’s right…I didn’t. Nice try, tho.

I have a strong feeling that you’re Akston lol
The writing and tone are too similar. On top of accusing me of things I never did.

Unless it’s 1 person on 2 different accounts, nope. Not that such a thing would be unheard of, but they definitely aren’t 1 person just posting on a different character.

Being cancelled is the most over used word that rarely ever means what people pretend it does.

Its just a buzzword for people to use when they are held accountable for being hateful.

No, it’s not. The EULA everyone had to agree to clearly states that foul language is prohibited in WoW chat, period, end of story. It’s a very easy concept to understand.

We are allowed to turn the filter off if we are OK with seeing such language when people break the rules, but that ability does not change the rules nor does it allow foul language to be used.

Even that is TECHNICALLY not allowed and could get you silenced, but since it’s a friends only channel it’s very unlikely for you to get reported for it.

Ah, a true believer in your own propaganda.

Don’t think of it as swearing: Think of it as a different type of eloquence. You should be able to handle such eloquence as an adult, turn on the filter, then block anyone who breaks it.

Nope not how things work. Everyone agreed to the same rules… not hard to follow them.

People think bullying is legal in world of Warcraft and thinking that they get away with anything. And yet they don’t realize there are rules that’s needs to be followed.

It’s there to ‘protect’ those who don’t want to be exposed to it when people inevitably break the rule. You may as well ask, why have locks on doors when breaking and entering is illegal?

then leave it on and you will not see them

Or just follow the rules.

Maybe the developers can create an app so when you report someone you can find their toon on this app and beat the toon up, launch them into space, torture them until you get tired of complaining about it.

This is what you said and I quote

“the idiots spamming hate speech”

YOU posted that.

the analogy then would be, dont be upset if you leave your doors unlocked and people wander in.

Oh, yeah. Anyone that’s racist or homophobic…I don’t feel bad for calling idiots. I usually use a much more accurate word, but I can’t use that term here.

I don’t mind swearing honestly. I really wish I could tell certain people on the forum how I feel about them. It’s still, however against the rules, though Blzizard often lets much worse than swearing go.

The filter is meant to function as a last ditch effort, because it’s easy to work around and doesn’t catch everything. It’s up to the player to act appropriately in public channels.
