This is the kind of mindset I can imagine from someone who has never raided in a progression guild where the main goal is killing the boss, not getting loot. You’re going to get loot eventually the vast majority of people participating in a raiding guild understand that giving an item to the person who can best help the boss dying is the best plan.
The celebration is the boss dying, not the loot dropping.
I really have no interest in getting into the “Why Master Looter is bad debate”… I’ll end this with one decisive comment, and I don’t really care if it makes you mad because it is what it is…
If all of the companies in your state racially discriminate and you can’t find a job, the federal government is losing a tax payer. The federal government doesn’t like that, so they’ve decided separate but equal / “go find somewhere else to work if it is is oppressive” is not a valid defense for that behavior. Master Loot is not allowed to exist if there is a lack of non-ML guilds that prevents normal, “law-abiding” players from getting raid slots.
I mean if you join a guild and start raiding and the rest of the raid is fine with Master loot and you’re not maybe it’s not a big a problem as you think it is?
Do people who think ML is nothing but a tool to exploit players think that the rest of the raid just puts up with abuse of loot or something?
Good. This would be incredibly stupid as you can choose to just not use it. Plenty of PL guilds will still exist.
Trash analogy btw, as the startup costs for a real world company are significant and not every person can afford to do so.
The cost of creating a WoW guild is like 10 gold…so if there was this huge pool of players that wanted to find PL guilds to play with but were unable to do so like you hypothesized…they would just create their own guilds.
If anything I think the old tactics of marketing is very cringe and turns me away from a game now, whenever I get ads on youtube for a mobile game for example, often time its some animated chick with lots of cleavage and maybe suggestive poses and I just think “wow if they need to advertise it this way, they must be desperate for players”. If a video game wants to truly advertise, show epic gameplay with minimal spoilers like Forspoken for example…that INSTANTLY caught my eye when it was shown at game reveals, mainly the magic system but the soundtrack was good too…small stuff like that catches players, not what I said above as much.
Like I said, not really super interested in getting into a “Master Looter good or bad” debate, but you can change the analogy to any number of “not legal to discriminate” topics, like religious or political affiliation which are choices and the analogy holds just fine.
Don’t you think this would have been brought up by Ion when he was talking with Asmon about ML as a challenge? Maybe the fantasy world where you live where all the raid leaders were successfully siphoning off all the gear to their partners doesn’t actually exist?
