So, based on the blue responses in the CS forum, I’d say it’s more likely that the silence was applied manually. Also, thinking back on it, if it was automated it probably would’ve happened much sooner.
It sounds like a case of a GM not understanding the new policy, and someone who understood it stepped in and corrected the issue.
This of course doesn’t change my views on the squelching system itself - I believe it should be tossed into the nearest burning dumpster, but at least we have a better understanding now.
I also learned that “a single report is all you need for GM review” isn’t necessarily the case either, depending on the category and circumstances.
the sad part is i just logged in today since its my day off after being gone most of the week working. first thing i see is 1 person selling legit carries and all of a sudden everyone is all “REPORT HIM!!” im like bruh… do you guys even read the damn articles? boosting is still allowed just not the boosting communities such as houkan which yes there were a bunch of them just constantly spaming trade chat non stop.
Yah trade chat be like that still. There’s definitely bots and people still spamming which is the issue. Level 10s not in a guild trying to sell “guild runs”
i hope they ban those doing carries, tbh. perma.

People would just go RMT. Then China bots spam trade chat 24/7 even worse than before lol
Cool. Sounds like it’s working.

I will agree with you, Blizzard is 2/3 to blame here because they made a system that both requires a LOT of time to get multiple characters to a good spot - without being rewarding enough to do multiple times over- and introduced a token that allows people to basically have infinite gold and use it to cheat the system by paying others to help them skip the grind.
But I also played in the Olden Days where there was no such thing as catch up mechanics and if you even wanted a MOUNT on multiple characters, you had to grind out the rep twice. So I don’t have a lot of sympathy for the “We only bought carries for our alts, Shadowlands takes too long :(!” defense. It’s still an MMO, if you want multiple toons, you are expected to replay pretty much 60%-80% of the game.
With that being said, I would much rather that Blizzard just commit to giving people a system that allows for reaching the end game quickly, because THAT IS WHERE THEY PUT ALL THE FUN. Which would shift people away from wanting a carry in the first place because the expectations are both fun and reasonable. They can’t really point the finger at people taking the path of least resistance, when they made the traditional path tedious, and the path of least resistance extremely more convenient (and profitable) than weeks-long grinds that weren’t super fun the first time.
Hopefully that all makes sense, not trying to come off as a jerk.
I think that we definitely need a system to advertise outside of spamming trade chat. It’s literally the only way I can make gold for raid consumes/other things. Farming and professions are massively overrun by bots and not feasible nor enjoyable. Very skilled people should be able to help others by doing dungeons/etc to earn gold. It’s been that way for 17 years and will always be that way. I sold SM runs over 15 years ago every day xD
The main issue with “old school” gearing that you referred to is much different than time gated new stuff. If I hit 60 on a toon it’s a MINIMUM of 5 weeks before I can even step into mythic raid with him let alone getting invited to a heroic pug. It’s mega time gated so buying an AOTC boost is about the only way to get in quicker. You NEED loot traders for dom sockets and such
I think you’ll be fine. The demand is so overwhelming that advertising in trade chat will work.
1 biggest issue w/ boosting now will be the top guilds will pretty much take control of the market. I feel bad to any server where echo and limit/liquid is in because you know you’ll be lucky to get a cut of that boosting market when all are said and done. Blizzard didnt really kill boosting more they killed the little guy that’s boosting while giving more power to the top guilds.
I don’t think that’s true actually. It’s very dependent on WHEN you raid. Communities offered multiple nights a week for several hours. And CE Carries are even harder to find because you can really only do 1-2 a week.
Though I’m sure liquid and echo will really expand their M+ base and bring in lots of 2500+ players to boost under their guild tag and take a cut.
agree ce carries will always be with the top guild. But w/ m+ and arena I think it’ll be the same as well. These guild has better resources and I know for a fact that they’re now doing something so that they can have boosting in house
Yah that’s what’ll happen but they’ll still have to compete against individuals who will most likely be cheaper or willing to undercut lol
lol yea hopefully. It’s a big question mark for me atm. Because atleast the boosting communities as long as you meet the criteria then you can boost as long as you’re selected (or know the advertiser >.> ) But with the in-house guilds not sure how it’ll work
they are trolling use the flag feature
They’ll just have a discord bot same as accelerate and others I’m sure lol just a smaller community
A level 10 selling boost with over 2 posts a minute is spam in my book. I will report.

i think we just need to /popcorn this and see how it plays out. maybe further clarification of what exactly is and isn’t banned needs to be given.
like convincing people that a 1/3 pound burger is bigger than a quarter pounder
(it was/is a real problem and the reason given when polled.)
imo, the way its framed, trade chat will be full of ads more than ever.
the report system is going to get flooded with false flags and overwhelm the system.
the price that guilds and individuals charge will double or triple so they dont have to risk the mass report groups as often.
a better solution imo is to create a request board for players looking to get help from guilds or individuals. this way its not an advertised service but a “client seeking applicants for a task” then the person can pick and choose through the applicants. they can “background check” how reliable a guild is or an individual is.
Agreed. I honestly think it should be barred if you aren’t on a level 60.
