Because I can read.
Well, that would be because forum penalties are not automatic. Just the greying out of the post til Mods get to see it. They DO restore posts, just like they drop a lot of incorrect reports. Not that they always get it right, but still. The only time someone gets forum suspended is when a Mod applies it.
Except that isn’t what happens… then RMT sites take over and trade is slammed with Chinese and Russian bots. Most of the people buying boosts were to get alts geared up because blizz has made these tiers extremely unfriendly to alts with numerous borrowed power systems.
Haha, no way. Is that actually a thing? Super pathetic if so.
Oh no I get that, I was just surprised because it never stopped me from posting on it but I suppose it just disappeared from the list of topics or something
to the people reporting it, its all the same to them.
Nah, people were generally being malicious with the reports. I have a dozen or so screenshots I submitted with my silence appeal as proof xD
I’m sure there are some who genuinely don’t understand the difference but those people probably aren’t enough to silence
I feel for ya, but I personally hate seeing Carrie’s in chats and rather the trade chat go back to the normal degeneracy it used to be known for.
I wish blizz would create a LFG tab just for Carrie’s if they are intent on letting it to still be a thing in the game.
Keeps people from spamming a chat channel and it’s a centralized outlet for folks who want a carry
Exactly. That’s EXACTLY what I’ve been saying since I came back to WoW for 9.0. Have 0 tolerance outside a “looking for boost” system but allow that system to flourish for people who want it.
Question:
Did you receive an email when you were squelched/silenced? If so, did it say specifically if you were “squelched” or if you were “account silenced”?
People have generally understood that an automatic squelching occurs when a specific threshold is met, but the “Account Silenced” support article reads as if a full-blown silence is automatically applied as well.
All that will happen is that if someone spam reports, it will stop going thru for a while. And it is perfectly okay to sell Arenas, RBGs, Keys, raids and dungeons in trade chat as long as you are doing it for gold and with no exploits, then it is okay. It is also the competition that does the mass reporting non you.
I never got anything about a squelch. Just a straight email about being silenced for a week though I’m still not sure if I’ve ever been silenced before on my account so it seemed very aggressive.
Appealed it and it was over turned because the reports were for me trying to solo carry for gold.
Yeah…I get the feeling it’s entirely automated now and isn’t even reviewed until an appeal is made. Traditionally a squelch would occur, which is a temporary silence (not official) that would be reviewed by a GM to see if the squelch should be removed or turned into an actual silence. Until a manual review took place, no official penalties would be levied.
This sounds entirely different now and is even more disturbing.
It’s said that it is not automated but I don’t know how I could post my message for an hour or so and get silenced. An hour or two seems like not enough time to go from report to GM review.
What would be even more appalling is if a GM in fact DID apply the silence. It means they saw all of the BS reports and swiped right either way. Then wasted more time reviewing in an appeal just to overturn.
I don’t care what people say I’m pretty sure it’s automated and/or GMs reviewing chat reports it are literal bots.
I love seeing peopoe going all scarlet crusade on carryers
There is an auto squelch “feature” that prevents people from speaking or using group finder until it is overturned that is the issue here. If reports were reviewed before applying this feature it would be different
It’s literally always been a thing but yes there should just be a boosting chat that is opt in not opt out.
I actually have reason to believe now that silences themselves (not just squelches, if they still exist) are automated, based on experiences other players are having and the way the account silenced article is written.
I’m probably going to bring this up later today in the CS forums once it’s a little later in the day.
Yah, I was reported for “abusive chat” according to the email. I do think this is automated regardless of what anyone says. There’s just no way a GM saw my messages and applied a silence.
Especially since it resulted in an immediately long silence… people won’t believe me but I really don’t think I’ve been silenced multiple times in the past that would result in this escalation.
Unless blizzard does truly hate resto shamans.
I once found a lighter buried in the dirt during a vacation to Vietnam. On the side was scrawled a barely legible inscription.
“Report’em all and let Blizz sort’em out.”
I don’t know what brave soul it belonged to, but I intend to keep their wishes.
