An 8-day silence would seem to indicate this is your 4th violation. First offense is a 24-hour silence, and with each subsequent offense, the penalty doubles. There is no upper limit. This means next time, it’ll be 16 days.

The word problematic has become so problematic these days. I can barely take someone seriously anymore when they say it.
But as to the topic at hand, the amount of time earlier today I’ve seen people in trade (and on forums) flat out say “I’M REPORTING ANYONE FOR ANY ADVERTISING I DON’T CARE” shows there is in fact, false reports going out left right and center.
If someone is really spamming every 20sec then yes, report them, but just wasting GM’s time because you don’t like the concept of boosting is petty and douchebaggy.
It reminds me of when you see or hear of people calling 911 because someone is not wearing their mask -_-
Nice to see Blizzard is prohibiting boosting services and it’s deftly one step in the correct direction but we shall see how things keep going after Shadowlands.
TLDR: Just report em, ignore em & carry on.

Actually that isn’t true. I may have been silenced ONE time on this account and that I’m not even sure of but it wouldn’t surprise me.
I usually don’t do much in this game outside of M+ and raiding so there isn’t much room for silences to even occur.
If this had been a 24h silence as I sort of expected it to be then I wouldn’t have really cared.
Also, the silence was lifted by a GM last night. So I’ll be trying to help my friends complete their push week m15s for gold later today just HMU if you need a run!

All of you should read the thing before reporting like its the wildwest. Its not forbidden for that person to advertise boosting. If its being spammed every few seconds sure, but if its like 5-10min breaks then why would there be an issue?
You all are risking your own account for falsely reporting people. Its like the multiboxer thing… there is also two things to it which people still dont understand. He is allowed to advertise as an individual wether you like it or not. I dont like these boosters either but I am able to read.
Are you serious or did you just fall and hit your head? The auto silence would be long over before he managed to get an CS to review it. Only to then have it done again and have to go thru the process again. How about instead of blaming the dude doing nothing wrong, we educate the idiots that are incorrectly reporting him.

That’s the thing people don’t understand. The game is essentially unplayable outside of guild raids while silenced. In this case it took about 14 hours for ticket to be reviewed and corrected.
Just to go through the same process again today I’m sure when I post.
e/ so instead of playing the game yesterday because I couldn’t do anything I came to the forums to hang with the true degens. See you all in 4-5 hours when I get falsely reported again I’m sure

I never said they wouldn’t review it, I said typically in game punishments are over before they do. It is good that they did it but even if it was only a few hours it was uncalled for. Hopefully the CS took a moment to inform those that reported him that they were in the wrong and that continued misuse could result in punishment upon themselves.
Nah the people doing it generally KNOW that what I said is okay… they just want to clear trade chat for anal spam that half the server has blocked with bad boy already

Nope, it was stated that’s what the community reported it for not why it was removed. Further, you’re not supposed to discuss account action. It also doesn’t show any actual action aside from the post being removed.

It’s almost like people are fed up with boosts, guild carries, and other forms of “play the game for me” services so now that Blizzard has FINALLY put their foot down, players want it completely gone.
Can’t say I disagree. Good riddance to boosting.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you know that Blizzard’s silence system is automated.
False reporting is against TOS so go ahead and keep doing it…have fun getting suspended.
