Marksman on the PTR - AMAZING CHANGE

The complaint went to those who had the power to resolve it and it worked out in the end, with everyone winning.

I wish I could say I’m surprised that they did an about face. But considering the thousands of complaints and whining, they’ve probably received in the last two months, they had no choice. looks like I won’t be playing Hunter in the next patch. That’s a shame. I was really looking forward to those changes…

Funny how it’s “complaints” and “whining” when it’s an opinion you disagree with, but it would be “feedback” if it was something you endorsed.

if it were actually constructive feedback, I would still agree with the change. But after having read all of the forums related to this topic, there may be a handful that are actually constructive feedback. The rest of it is pissing and moaning, and nothing more. but hey, good news you guys won so it’s all over with

Imagine deciding to play a spec only if other players don’t get to play like they want

Absolute pettiness

imagine not wanting to play Hunter at all because the pet was being removed. God forbid. like I said you people won. Congrats.

If i only play MM with a pet, yeah, why would i keep playing it?

But imagine deciding if you play or not based on other people choices that doesn’t affect YOURS LOL

And that is after saying how you are FINE WITH CHANGES

Well, apparently you are not

I accepted the change that was coming. I accept the fact that blizzard doesn’t have the guts to keep the change that was coming. So I will go back to playing mage and enjoy myself. Nothing left to see here. You people won. Congratulations.

I am confused.

They haven’t removed any of the changes. The only thing they did was add ONE thing to a talent, turning it into a choice node.

Literally nothing has changed about what you’re excited about. You can still choose Improved Spotter’s Mark over pets.

I am legitimately confused why you’re upset about this. Nothing has changed, aside from a talent becoming a choice node??

I can see why you’re confused. I can’t imagine you’ve probably ever finally thought to yourself that the company you believed in for so long was actually capable of making a solid change and going through with it. I probably should’ve seen this coming considering how often blizzard caves when it comes to a lot of things. like I said you people won so congratulations.

You see, he was only going to play MM if other players didnt had the option to use a pet.

now that they can play, its a deal killer for him, weird isnt?

Wait, are they really not playing because other people get to use a pet?
Everything else about the rework is staying the same, they aren’t losing anything… and they’re not going to play because other people don’t suffer?

Yeah

but to be fair with him, he was not going to play either way, he just opened the thread to bait and troll people

When I do play my Hunter I play SV. I only played a little MM because I have not played it since Legion.

Blizzard making this change may be good on paper. But I see a lot of issues coming because honestly, I feel it will not be balanced correctly. The choice now puts the pet back into the game space. So all the issues that come with is back on the table. Pet pathing, Scale size, Commands, Utility, PvP talents…there are many things involved besides just tanking.

One example is pvp. So how will this pet work in PVP? You do not tank other players in PvP. So does the pet get all of its abilities for PVP in PVP only? So it is Arena pvp? Battleground PvP? What about World PvP? Does it only work if you flag for PVP? If things stand as stated, and are understood as such, if the pet does not function fully in PVP and you take it into pvp, you are gimping yourself and your team.

Also people speak about, Oh players will not use pets in certain content. But yet, you see players all the time doing things in content that just makes you scratch your head. Then the reply is “its only a game” Well yes, it is, but do not waste other people’s time in game with your foolishness.

There are a lot of things that need to happen, and honestly, NOBODY knows what that will be until it’s on the PTR to test. Until then only assumptions that the new changes will not change are apparent because unless you’re a dev on the forums secretly, we have no idea what Blizzard is going to do to implement this.

None of those are required if you dont want to.

It will work exactly like it is in live right now, with the difference that you will get pet utility, without one, so you rly get one if you want to spin/defend flag, keep enemies in combat or do other shenanigans.

All I can say is the Improved Harriers Call choice node needs to sim more than a 10% damage increase compared to the “Keep your pet” node, otherwise won’t it basically just be Lone Wolf 2.0?

Like, am I missing something?

You are not understanding what it is I am saying. The entire purpose of the first change was to REMOVE MM pets from the GAME SPACE. In programming, this means that the item does not interact in the dimensional space as a player does. The Eagle is nothing more than a visual attached to a spell action. That means it IS NOT part of the gaming space. With this do not need to worry about programming certain functions to it than what you do for items WITHIN the game space.

Now even if it’s a basic function, the pet is still a function that needs to exist in the GAME SPACE. So it needs to be accounted for in design and programming.

You know this how? We as player have no idea how this new change will work. Again, it is not as simple as Pet=Utilites. There are a lot of “If then” that need to be inserted. Until it hits the PTR, nobody knows how this change will work.

As in the other thread, if you choose to have a pet, are you now double dipping into the talents of the pet and player? It is not as cut and dry as you are stating. There are a lot of variables involved.

No, the purpose of the change was to give MM the UTILITY of the pet, without the necessity to have one active. Pet was already outside of the game space by picking lone wolf and not playing with one

It is right in the blue post, as stated players should not feel “frustrated” by needing to summon one

Ok, so things will turn the way they were, with the difference of the issues M+ was having will be fixed, the rework will go forward and the spec will be improved without sacrificing player choice and agency

By seeing the blue post?

I knew how it was going to work when they removed the pet, and i know how it will work again.

You are no going tog et any new benefit that isn’t already in live

the talents you are going to 'dip" are obligatory nodes anyway, so its not a problem in the slightest.

Why not/ They are still keeping all the changes on the eagle thing .

MM pets will pretty much be meat shields for open world content and delve soloing .

Probably the only things they will have are growl and their basic attack spells . Lust and everything else will be tied to the new system which is fine .

no all the utilities will stay on the hunter and the new eagle thing

Pets will basically be meat shields to use as tanks for open world , which is what we pretty much asked for .
