Marksman on the PTR - AMAZING CHANGE

So there has been quite a bit of skepticism from people who are still coping with the thought of MM losing its crutch of a pet in exchange for the feel of a sniper support role. As I have been chatting in another thread, I loaded up the PTR, headed for a test dummy, and found a significant DPS output in the revised spec compared to the Lone Wolf version where the pet simply isn’t there.

THANK YOU for finally making a true long range, single target support role that will now do far more in terms of DPS when it comes to group content. Should I need a pet when soloing, at least I still have BM to fall back on. Now, more than ever, I am excited about the new spec and cannot wait to see if it still performs in this manner live, the way it does in the sandbox of the PTR. Appreciate the effort that went into this redesign!

Aaaamaaaazin change how sweet the buffs!

You realize they could keep these exact changes and still add a pet option that just grants utility and auto attacks so that pet players still keep all their pets and petless players aren’t forced to have an eagle?

Unless it’s a “meaningful” one.

You have your own thread to complain in. I went to the PTR. I got facts, not anecdotes. Have a great night.

Like singleminded fury, thank God they got rid of that waste of a talent point.

Oh wait…

So the question I keep asking, and no one seems to be able to answer, why don’t they just buff “Lone Wolf” and let those of us who have been playing our hunter pets keep our companions?

this is a public forum. any poster can post here. have a great night.

You seem a bit hostile. Maybe you need a walk for some fresh air.

Sorry, but you don’t get to choose the feedback you get when you start a topic. A few of you like the changes but a quick look at any topic on the matter shows that this change for the sake of change rewrite is tremendously unpopular.

They don’t care about class fantasy, or player investment. It’s all about them and their little spreadsheet project.

Na bro I’m good. Maybe you need to actually give a good reason why LW can’t just have these changes instead of forcing me to play with a dumb bird

Do you main a hunter?

You do realize the argument for pet choice has nothing to do with topping any meters, right? This is an MMO-RPG. Not everyone cares only about how much damage they can do.

I won’t argue that the change isn’t good from a pure DPS standpoint. I will say it’s not so great for those who play hunter simply because THEY LIKE PETS. Personally, I’ve been lone wolf since they first took our pets away. I really don’t care for BM, but I do like to take my pets out just to play with them and hang out with them sometimes. I will always fall on the player choice side of any argument.

As long as it’s feedback, and not the name-calling. The person is pretty hostile. But you are correct. It is a public forum, and if they want to call people names in public and show who they are, they are free to do so.

Hunter was my first class in Vanilla, and has been my DPS main for many years. I am a tank main (Paladin) and healer main (R-Sham). So yes, I am familiar with this class. I did not mind the lack of pet considering the near 30% increase in DPS I was pumping.

It wasn’t necessary to completely rewrite the class to get that 30% boost. They could have made changes to lust and lone wolf without destroying many player’s long investment in their characters by making it completely different mid-expansion.

Which means you play the class for the DPS. Not a bad thing to do at all. But not every player cares about DPS. Blizz is always going on about “class fantasy” and the class fantasy for hunter has always included a pet. Can you explain to me why Blizz couldn’t possibly keep the change but also give players a choice whether or not to go lone wolf?

And in my opinion, buffing a class rather than designing it to work as intended is just bad design. Now the spec works as intended. No pet, lots of damage.

Tell that to the millions of people who have damage meters and play M+

After 20 years it’s suddenly working “as intended”? That makes no sense.

Once you try it for yourself, you might view it differently.

Once again with the name-calling.
