Marksman on the PTR - AMAZING CHANGE

But MM is still using a pet, now.

So you want Blizzard to make another spec for Hunters thatā€™s just the current MM design? A spec that would only be used in the open world or for RP purposes?

Hunters as a class still have pets though so the class fantasy hasnā€™t changed its actually been improved

Its a clown take.

Or a PVP player, but you fools only know about M^

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure

This is a lie, they do.

There is more to this game than M+

Thats why they tried to force a pet eagle that you dont need to control?

Its the same approach, removing pet, expecting it will work now

At this point, Iā€™d say it is more those that say it are doing nothing more then spewing a different kind of BM out of their mouths.

It is not a requisite at all. I was just curious. You did say you use a hunter as your main DPS, but your test of the spec would still be valid if you didnā€™t. You were testing on the PTR and reporting how you felt about the changes.

I still donā€™t understand why MM canā€™t have the choice of a pet or not. Some have said it was a ā€œbalancing issue,ā€ but I donā€™t see why thatā€™s a problem. Just make the Marksmanā€™s pet work like the eagle. The only difference would be we still get to use the pet we want, not the pet they give us.

Nope.

I want them to adapt the rework such that people can keep their pets if they want, or have none entirely.

I sometimes wonder if, instead of Lone Wolf, they should have given us a choice node:

  1. Lone Wolf, works the same as it does now, +5% damage if you go petless
  2. Wild Marksman: +5% damage while you have an animal companion wth you

M+ players would lose their crap, cause they would be forced to play a pet in a pet class

Eh they could keep lone wolf with the same damage modifier and have it give you the command ability of your #1 slot or last dismissed pet and everything else about the rework the same. Everyone wins.

I have been hearing from EU players who hate the changes and using google translate, found that losing pets is even more unpopular in other countries than the USA players. Though it is hard to tell if Blizzard cares about them due to the fact that most promotions are unavailable to them.

Someone from Brazil was posting on X, begging Blizzard to change their mind and I started poking around non English forums

Agree with OP. The vocal minority who post on these forums donā€™t remotely represent the player base. The changes are step in the right direction.

That is just it, it would be a choice node, Lone Wolf, with increased damage + utility for going petless and Wild Marksman, with the same increased damage, for having a pet out. I was just leaving it up to Blizzard if they would have that all on the hunter, so the pet was free damage, all on the pet, or split between them in an attempt to balance it.

Anyway, if the M+ loses their crap, Iā€™d just say that was karma being a female dog to them, and if they complained about needing to take the pet talent for max DPS, wellā€¦ā€œhey, if you want to run without a pet, you canā€ā€¦ā€œbut it is not top damageā€ā€¦"just because you sacrifice your enjoyment for DPS does not mean anyone else should be forced to:

From what it sounds like, the devs want MM as a group/mythic spec and for open world, thereā€™s beast master.

Thatā€™s true I think thatā€™s a major goal. However they are forgetting that WoW is not just about DPS in Mythic and leveling. Thereā€™s Role Play as well and for those of us who have been maining MM Hunter with our pets since Cataclysm this is a big RP loss.

I have a BM alt so my main will switch over but then were does my alt go. The Eagle?

Glad you like it(11.1 MM). Should be even better after some bug fixes.

Yeah. Itā€™s not fun. Itā€™s also why I have alts.

Before reading back through the thread, I would like to thank the mods for restoring the Original Post, which was inaccurately flagged out of disagreement by a certain element. Iā€™ll be scrolling back up through now to see what I missed.

The devs are trying to make 3 completely unique specs for hunter. If ā€œnearly everyoneā€ uses Lone Wolf at times and all of them remove the pet for the damage increase, it makes sense to design a spec around pure hunter damage and leaving the pet entirely out of the equation. People still have choices. 2 pets - BM for everything open world, 1 pet - Survival for a ā€œsolo survivorā€ experience. And soon 0 Pet - a pure hunter with increased damage and an Eagle companion who is not a fully controllable pet. Iā€™m liking the flavor and the direction.

Wellā€¦ back in the olden days managing the pet was part of the job of a hunter. It was one of the things that separated a stellar hunter from a mediocre or bad one.
