Marksman on the PTR - AMAZING CHANGE

I’d actually prefer that Grimoire of Sac get buffed, so I could actuall sac the void walker for the extra defensive on Kyvezza.

I can, because they were the only ones being frustrated in having to summon a pet to use its utility

Literally, no other form of content complained about it.

Thats lame appeal to authority, :face_exhaling:

Blizzard can be wrong, like they were before, again, thi about identity is an excuse, they make their identity on the fly

Because they are bad at their job

Dont mind, the problem would be removing the option to summon then entirely, which will eventually happen if this one does

But that’s not the only reason for the change even if you think it is.

Exactly, just like they did with survival. I didn’t agree with or like the change but one day they decided the identity of that spec is melee and that’s that.

Only when they do things you personally don’t agree with though, right?

It was, the rest was just excuses to force the change in thematic

Or when they removed MM pet twice in the past and had to roll back again :tipping_hand_man:t5:

No, you just need to look at the state of the game balance and how it is a mess in pve and pvp

This is probably a domino effect of Blizzard changing how healing works. Blizzard wanted to improve classes’ overall survivability while reducing healing, which then cascaded into tanks losing a certain a mount of survivability so they wouldn’t be self-sufficient, which then penalized pets into being less effective at tanking as well. The plus side of it is that DPS got quite a big boost in survivability overall. This is why nowadays we can talent into certain defensive combos that in the past each option shared the same talent row, limiting their usage.

Yes they’re squishier, but they pull almost no threat outside of taunt.

My 2c is the MM pet should become non-interactive. No aggro mechanics, no mend pet, no pet bar, no leech, no lust… similar to priests’ shadowfiend. It’s got to be one of your tamed creatures in the stable, though. Not some generic prefab creature. Would make Lone Wolf waaaaay easier to balance.

I’m honestly happy there’s support for a petless archer fantasy coming. But, I think there’s room to maintain the companion fantasy for MM at the same time.

Not even that.

A sniper is more accurate as not shooting. Despite the mythologizing around the “one shot, one kill” mantra, snipers are more recon units. They will observe enemy locations and movements and feed that information back to the rest of the unit. Fire missions, air support, strategic planning, etc.

In fact, sniper school focuses heavily on observational skills and memorization just as much as it does on weapon skills.

Firing a bullet kills 1 person and betrays your location. Being unseen and calling in an air strike wipes out the whole unit and allows you to remain undetected.

If we’re going to have MM be a ‘sniper’ spec, then it should remain in stealth forever and only ever get kill shot as an ability. Hunter’s mark, however, would increase the damage done to their target by all allies and require constant re-application. It’d be incredibly boring and powerful at the same time.

dps output is completely irrelevant to having/not having a pet. They could nerf/buff either side and it would be moot regardless of the kit.

If that’s the major selling point it could be extremely temporary, hopefully there’s more than that!

It’s a fantasy game, this is more about the “fantasy” of sniper than the reality of it. Besides, MM is more akin to the concept of the “ranger”, the wilderness specialist scout/guerrila fighter/guard that’s still very much linked to nature and attacks from afar with amazing accuracy.

Then why offer more DPS to put the pet away and run Lone Wolf? Seems to me they simply want to make it more permanent and interesting.

I guess all those mages, ele shammies, boomkins and spriests etc are melee specs then?

I’ve literally never liked the sniper fantasy btw
I much prefer the ranger fantasy where you’re mobile kiting stuff. I hate this sniper thing because it turns mm into a boring class in PVP

If you want fully mobile ranged archer that’s literally what BM is, you can do practically your entire rotation on the move. And it’s balanced against other ranged specs that can’t do that because you have a pet(s) to manage. It’s great design.

Before you start using my post as support, please be aware that I am not being as over-dramatically excited about this as you are. Mechanically the spec seems to work okay, but I definitely am missing my pocket tank and it will take some getting used to.

So, don’t be trying to pull me into your happy dance, ok?

I think folks are well aware that you like this change. Not everyone agrees with you however. They are entitled to their opinions just as you are.

You seriously need to tone it down a notch.

another alt DK saying nonsense again? the fourth?

if it’s fun, and they do play more a support role, as someone with not that much skin in the game I’m kind of excited to see it, but once again hunter is maybe my 4th most played character. I do feel bad for people who want them for more for RP/solo content, but people have argued every step of the way with hunter diversification, and imo it was very needed.

I can just as easily say no, m+ is just an excuse and not the real reason.

If at first you don’t succeed…

Oh, you mean the thing people always complain about no matter what?

Spamming this copy-paste response in every thread isn’t actually a counterargument.

Oh the classic I want to have my cake and eat it too.

MM didn’t have a pet to begin with, and if you did you weren’t a good MM hunter.

I can’t believe hunters read “better DPS” and still feel the need to demand more liability ridden DPS
