Marksman on the PTR - AMAZING CHANGE

It’s not. All top MM use LW, thus, no pet.
Pet is important for PvP and utility, and a huge QoL option in solo play.
We only have the (terrible) BM spec now for ranged with a pet.

As usual, players will adapt or quit. In this case, I bet the pendulum is shifting to the quitting side.

It’s Lonely Winter all over again, but worse.

and as many people have already pointed out in this extremely circular argument, they have beastmaster and survival as pet options. Pets are not being removed from the class. They’re being removed from a single spec. Spec that normally goes Lonewolf just to pump out more damage anyway. So now they’re making a purely damage spec that doesn’t involve a controllable pet.

Being able to spend precise shots with black arrow is a very noticeable and welcome change on ST.

But claiming that “nothing has changed” is very disingenuous, since you could say that Destruction hasn’t changed since Dragonflight, as it’s the same abilities that work in basically the same way.

and now they have an excuse to rework survival hunter to make them the PVP spec

It really did not, at least for me.

you must of skipped a few lines with your already preplanned words.

I’m glad somebody said it. I didn’t want to use the word disingenuous because I feel like it gets overused on this forum but in this particular case you happen to be correct.

I refused to use Pet even in PVP, losing good utilities.

them not liking survival melee is not my problem. Maybe instead of trying to stop the changes going to marksman maybe they should ask for a rework on survival to become what marksman used to be so they can have a pet to go PVP with and into solo content with

That’s on you though.
The main utility pets have in PvP is keeping players in combat to stop mounting, prevent flag caps, regen and restealth.
Some even use them for the auto snare of some pet families.

I’d rather they rework survival to what survival used to be (it was my main spec in the game).

Yup, I havent checked PTR yet and I hope those utilities come backed in.

Do we get Masters Call?

I agree that spec needs a complete overhaul. It used to be a blast. Maybe they can finally make the changes to survival after they’re done implementing the changes for marksman.

There is no utility to keep players in combat AFAIK.

you must not of been around when these forums burnt to the ground during the end of wod when survival was 1st announced that is was going melee.

nothing can be done right now about MM and it going petless in 11.1. all that can be done is players can voice their concerns and try to grasp some reasoning of it all.

the fact remains that removing the option to call a pet will not offset any changes that will be made to the spec in 11.1. people will still play without a pet in m+ and raid. i will still play without my pet in m+ and raid. but to fully remove it as an option from a class where the only staple and niche is having a pet is just redundant.

I hated my pet for keeping ME in combat

i’ve been around since January 19, 2006 and I didn’t bother to come to the forums until warlords of draenor announced that they weren’t going to add flying to the game anymore. And after five months of arguing with a community manager, I was promptly removed from the forums and took six years before I appealed. I know all about changes that caused distress and I also know that it wasn’t my complaining on this forum that got flying to come back. It was the drop from 10,000,000 to 3,000,000 subs that actually forced them to put flying back in the game.

Yes, you get:

  • Aimed Shot applies Mortal Wounds on players
  • Can cast Bloodlust baseline
  • You have a talent choice node between getting Tenacious (5% extra health + 3% damage reduction) or Cunning (8% improved speed + Master’s Call)
  • Intimidation can be used petless with just one talent
  • Petless Roar of Sacrifice talent
  • Some other talents linked to pet got petless advantages

so you think they would learn their lesson over bad decisions then?

If only blizz would make a spec for hunters that would let you focus on the class fantasy of having powerful pets…
