according to all of the hunters in the discord, they are excited about the fact that Lonewolf is finally becoming the spec that it should’ve been and not just the temporary talent that it has been. It’s nice to be able to pump out more DPS and not have to rely on digging a pet out for emergencies. they understand that switching to beastmaster or survival is still an optimal option given the state that hunters are currently in. The only people complaining are the ones that want to walk along with their companion and technically don’t need them out for anything except company. So I’m not exactly interested in catering to people who just want an oversized battle pet versus a group of people who actually want a sniper.

Tìnkertank is just one of those individuals who appears out of the peanut gallery whenever Blizzard does something controversial. They have no actual opinion on this change, they’re against what other people want.
nothing has changed!!! the spec is the same. you just can no longer summon a pet even if you wanted to. the spec is the same. same rotation, same abilities. same!
mm is pumping out more dps right now without these changes. you make 0 sense. and you never had to dig out your pet for anything other than lust. stuff like intimidation still worked without a pet. you still make no sense.
yea cause leave the summon pet as an option with some sort of damage penalty will just destroy the new “vision” lol fail.
the people that are speaking out against this are people that played mm for years and in my case since launch. i play with my pet 90%+ of my gametime. the only time i dont use a pet is when i raid and m+ which only accounts for about 5-10% playtime. you have no clue about hunter.

You have streamline up a lot more often, Dark Ranger is getting more cohesive on ST by allowing black arrow to be a precise shots spender, The new attack speed talents mean you’ll be seeing more lock n load procs (which greatly buffs the value of the S2 set bonus), and Double Tap is back.
Also, you get 1 class tree talent point for free, so it’s much easier to pick up trailblazer.

I just find it odd and conflicting to play MM with a pet. BM plays like MM or I should say similar in movement while casting only its just BM has no ability that requires you to stop moving.
The spells visually are far more fun than BM for sure… Id love to have the rapid fire ability or Volley for BM…But pet wise its also far more in sync with its pets as a function of play and you can make it to where your favorite pet is duplicated so thats fun for big T-rex pets lol.
SV is melee sure but it also feels good with a pet and again has abilities that utilize your pet as part of the rotation.
I believe the main issue with MM as a whole is it has zero synergy with a pet. Its just an auto hit, and a low damage one at that. It feels tacked on with no real point.
Would I object to a MM pet glyph to have it remain? No, Id also not be opposed to them keeping the option for those who for some reason like to use a pet with MM…
But in a way maintaining that option to blizzard at least seems to be holding the spec back.
Really if it fails and goes back as is I really wont object, I just see it as changing it up a bit to make it more interesting again os fun. Ones pets are still there, its just encouraging one to play all of hunter, not just one spec.
I need to play all three specs more tbh as Ive started to pigeon hole myself into SV more and more. Its been tried a few times and reverted before.
Maybe it will be better, maybe not. We can only play it, give feedback and see what happens.

and it is. outside of baking double tap into trueshot and adding some talents that only alter the way an ability behaves, the entire spec plays the same. same steady shot, aimed shot, arcane shot, multishot, volley, rapid fire.
this dude is acting like the whole spec got flipped deleted and rebuilt from the ground up. i spend a better part of 2 hours this morning examining the spec on the ptr.

That was its feature, BM had the most synergy, Survival have medium, MM had lower, but till had it.
I think, at this point, we should stop giving blizzard lenience and benefit of the doubt for not doing what they can do, and blaming the “impossibilities”
I never said it got completely flipped and rearranged. I said it got redesigned. People really need to start reading what’s on the page in front of them and not whatever it is they’re imagining someone is actually saying.
The changes are amazing and I love them. Sure, I understand the concern about losing pet in regards to tanking rares and elites in the open world, but other than that the update is really good.
I wouldn’t judge the changes based on DPS in PTR, though. At this stage it’s meant to just give the “feel” of the spec and train its rotation. Balancing comes way later, near patch release.
Anyway, I made a thread talking about what I’ve experienced in PTR in regards to both petless MM and 1-pet shot-focused BM as an alternative to old MM + Pet:
