In the end it doesn’t matter to me, I prefer BM anyway. I’m just trying to find more palatable ways for them to make these MM changes. Just slapping in an eagle makes it feel like this is a real low effort, like they couldn’t be bothered to go beyond adding in a placeholder.

You’re still trying to justify the unjustifiable. A dog can also grab your target’s leg, hold them in place to give you a free shot at a non-moving target.

Surv is melee and BM summons 459875345 pets and keeps two at your side. I want just one pet…just one. 
Did you read the dev notes before complaining? Theyre creating a 1-pet talent for BM called Solitary Companion.
And a bird wouldn’t last against a mech, either. For every argument you make for the justification of a bird, I can use the same for any other animal.
Maybe if you send your observer in to go peck the mechs armored face

I wasn’t complaining. I had an opinion in the forums and decided to write it out to other fellow WoW players to read. And guess what? Blizzard agreed! Ask and you shall receive.
Well yeah, if you ask for things they’ve already said we’re getting you’ll generally receive those things…
or you asked for them way before they did anything and some random person on the internet told you in a not so nice way, “HEY! You’re in luck my fellow horde friend! Blizzard listened to you in the past and you are getting your hearts desire! I’m so happy for you.”

ah, stat-sticks. those were the days. back when we had to keep food in our bag to feed our pet and ammo to use our ranged weapon. back when we had to buy the ability to use mounts, back when we had to have the mount in our bag to be able to use it.
the game has changed a lot, for better or worse. I’ve never wanted to play anything other than BM (and I have multiple hunters) because my draw to WoW is the fact hunters can have a wide variety of pets. in all the mmos I’ve tried where the ranger class has a pet (and not all of them do) it’s a very small pool to pull from, or they don’t get a choice in what they use at all. so if I’m playing this game for the pets, why would I not want to play the spec that focuses on the pet?
point being, like it or not, this is what the game is doing. if u want to play mm and have a pet, I get it, but this isn’t the first time they’ve done a major shakeup for classes or even hunters specifically. if u want to have ur dedicated pet, ur going to have to choose a different spec. I understand if u don’t WANT to do that, but the devs have decided this is ur option, OP.
if they’re gonna force a special pet unit they need to at least let us select a pet to fill that role, this change has killed any chance of me enjoying my marksman hunter for the rest of the expansion. i didnt go out of my way to tame that cute little mudskipper only to stable him for the next few years.
Will this eagle ‘fetch’ my loot? or break me free with ‘master’s call’? or heal me with ‘spirit mend’?
I was pointing out that all hunters had melee weapons at one point so if Alleria used melee before that then it makes sense, regardless of what has happened since.
I’m glad you’re satisfied with playing BM. Not everyone is.
If they end up sticking with their plans I have no control over that, but I can still choose how I will react and my actions going forward. Unless they tell us that we are not allowed to discuss it and provide feedback then I will continue to do that until I feel that it is not worth the effort. I would like to point out that nothing is set in stone. Maybe they will carry on as intended and it will be this way until the game shuts down, maybe a patch from now or next expansion or 5 years from now they will revert the changes so no it is not just Case Closed.
IDK, check the ptr and submit a ptr bug report if it doesn’t. They seem keen on trying to allow the eagle to do anything the pet would’ve done

Unless I’m mistaken, spirit mend is exclusive to spirit beasts which are an exotic pet, so mm never could’ve used this anyway.
