well its not fair that survival got chosen as the melee spec considering that bm is the spec in lore that is melee. rexxar and beast lord darmac are the 2 know lore characters that are melee hunters and they are 100% beast master melee hunters. not survival. hunters should not have a melee spec at all, but if anything bm should of been the spec that was chosen to stay true to lore and fantasy.
so blizzard just seems to do as they please with no thought in the matter, which is why this game has been swirling down the toilet since legion.
Several of the lore characters get to combine multiple specs, thats not a new concept. Rexxar is a BM that uses melee survival moves. Khadgar frequently uses Arcane+Frost+Fire. Gulâdan uses Demo+Destro+Affliction. Thrall uses Elemental at range and Enhance up close (plus he uses the enhance weapon) and has also used resto. Malfurion does Guardian the most but frequently uses Balance and Resto. Anduin uses Holy and Shadow. Arthas uses Frost, Unholy, and Blood. Chen is Brew and WW. Varian is Fury and Arms. And so on.
Others are predominantly one spec. Jaina is predominantly Frost. Alleria and Vereesa are predominantly MM. Flynn is Outlaw. Shaw is Subtlety. Shaohao is predominantly MW. Baine and Cairne are Enhance. Velen is Holy. Benedictus was Shadow.
In short, it varies by lore character. Rexxar combining multiple specs isnt out of the ordinary, lots of lore characters do that.
Alleria is a weird melee/ranged hybrid, she uses her bow as a staff in WC3. Sheâs much like her sister Sylvannas in that regard who also switch-hits from ranged to melee.
Next forum post will be a post saying remove demons from Affliction and Destruction because only Demonology should use them! Maybe thatâll get my point across.
Remove bear form from all non guardian druids!
These people donât know what a specialization is.
They removed my Observer from my Warlock, because apparently after a decade, people were too stupid to know how a glyph works. So that Warlock is collecting dust now.
Then they removed Moonkin from Resto and Iâve since shelved my Druid. Such BS.
Of course MM hunters use pets in lore. Thatâs been established for decades. Pets are synonymous with the class.
Lore was never a consideration. Theyâve chosen to alienate pet users to satisfy a certain crowd who donât like pets and itâs easier to make them happy them by hijacking an existing spec and telling its current users to go kick rocks.
They believe what you want doesnât matter. Lore concerns will not make them believe otherwise.
It is pretty underwhelming. Just a simple spell fx would suffice instead of shoe horning in an eagle. At the very least use something themed to the Hero specs (like a spectral raven if you are Dark Ranger or a spirit owl if you are Sentinel).
If they really wanted to make it look like they arenât just putting in the absolute bare minimum effort let Hunters customize it in the barber shop, add options that would go along with each hunter race (Owl for NE, Raven for Worgen, Phoenix for BE, Plague bat for Undead, Mecha Vultures for Goblin, etc., etc.). Donât need to restrict it based on race just put the options in there to choose from.
