Blizzard and lore? Lol. They stopped caring about lore a long time ago. I am MM and do not need a pet.
Thatâs literally BM hunter. And honestly add in survival too with all their ranged attacksâŠ
The difference is MM was already kinda established as a hunter spec with no pet. Even having a talent that incentivized you to drop it. So if you wanted to play as a pokemon trainer, you went BM hunter.
If by this you are referring to Lone Wolf, okay! Keep it as is. Lone Wolf was one choice. Allow me the choice to keep using my pet, pls.
You have the choice by clicking N and picking BM hunter or their forgotten cousin, survival who only cosplays as melee. You got 2 whole specs focused entirely on your pokemon.
Sorry, my bad. Fixed that for ya!
I had a thought, what if we remove the eagle and replace it with a pet tied to your call pet 1 slot (which can be changed at the stables). While out of combat your pet will be by your side. When combat starts your pet disappears only to appear when you use a âspotterâsâ ability. You still lose all the abilities with the pet and they become non-target, but at the very least you still look like you have it out.
I love the problem-solving approach!
It sounds like that would be even more work to put in than the proposed changes.
I just object to them taking anything away, especially something that is a core piece of the hunter class.
Itâs mainly a visual problem. Your pet jumps in does itâs thing and jumps out. I guess a flying creature is easier to use.
That would be a significantly better solution, though it wouldnât address the lack of survivability that the MM rework has.
Yes, but I am lobbying to be able to choose to play the game the way I started to play and the way Iâve been playing for 14 years.
Iâm fine if they need to implement changes that make sense in high-end content. But please just ADD those changes in without TAKING AWAY core elements of the game that I enjoy.
I was never this verbal about other changes I saw happen through the years, eg., the survival revamp, destro warlock, combat rogue. I promise never again to be that complacent. This one has really gotten to me.
Okay, well thatâs okay then. I suppose an eagle is not bad, at least it wonât be in the way like a lot of ground pets usually are. I still liked the option of not having one, but Iâll deal. Itâs not the worst thing that can happen.
This is certainly true!!!
But you are really not. The hunter has changed significantly in the past 14 years. You are not playing the same way you did 14 years ago. If it has anything to do with having a pet out, my solution solves it.
I like to look at MM as a mage in that regard. Mages are ranged DPS like MM, and they donât have a pet to taunt.
For me itâs more about having my pet tank. Of course I love having the option of having them or dismissing depending on my situation. The choice to keep playing using my pet as I have been is important.
My mage has more survive-ability and does more damage than my MM hunter does without my pet out.
Hey, if youâre ok with not having your petless wishes respected, you do you.
Mage has a 25s barrier, 1/4 the time of survival of the fittest, while also have having ice block, invisibility, alter time, and mirror image.
They have far more defensives than hunters do, because our pet has traditionally been our defensive.
With all due respect, I AM playing the same way I played for 14 years. Have the shots changed? Yes, now and again. But the basic playstyle has stayed the same through Cata, Mists, WoD, Legion, BfA, SL, DF and WW up to this point.
Itâs been me and my faithful Abby, together, shouldering the burdens and blazing our way through Azeroth (and beyond). Sure, you can tell me, âWell, then just spec BM and youâre all set!â But YOU have the choice between Arcane, Frost, and Fire. When someone comes along and tells you that you no longer have the choice of your favored playstyle (for whatever reason), I promise to lobby just as hard in your defense. For now I am simply asking Blizz not to take my choice of MM with a pet away from me.
Thanks!
The same lore that was changed for taurens to be able to be paladins? lol
Hunters
Wear mail armor
Ice trap
Disengage.
Aspect of the turtle.
Exhilaration.
Survival of the fittest
Feign death
Talented:
Concussion shot.
Burst shot or scatter shot
Another charge of survival of the fittest
Binding shot
Tar trap
All of these things can be used to help you survive longer.
As for the damage, Iâm pretty sure itâs gonna get increased with the new changes.
