Anyone that is actually/legitimately trying to gear up and doing it/relying on LFR is gearing up in a very inefficient way.
LFR gear is 376-385 iirc which is equivalent to M+ 2-8 (which is pretty easy since there are only 1-2 affixes active in most of that range)
In the time you would take just sitting in the LFR queue (as a dps) you would likely complete a key that would yield a drop (or multiple if people dont need their stuff) which would be on par or better than what you’d get in LFR (especially this week with the dungeon event active plus the reward).
In the time it would take you to finish a wing, you would likely finish multiple keys, which again would yield a drop (or multiple if people didnt need what they got) and it would give you a M+ vault box that would drop higher item level stuff than you’d get for an LFR vault box.
Furthermore, with the advent of the catalyst, you can now earn tier gear which is higher item level then LFR tier and upgradable even further past LFR levels

I would wage a bet that 95% of people on the forums know this, but then you also have the people that don’t even know the new mount you get from the new trading place isn’t white all the time because they don’t pay attention, I would assume these people don’t know where what ilvl gear comes off of what because they don’t have time to read or they don’t care and only do LFR because…reasons?
I honestly don’t get it. The same number of people in the raid whether alts or mains are rolling on the gear right? You have the same chance at it now as before Blizzard “fixed” it. Only now you don’t have the benefit of geared raiders helping with the fights.

It is INCREDIBLY stupid that we have to go this route just for transmog. Personally I think Blizzard should just throw transmogs in LFR like the way they scatter thru the game all these dragon appearances that I don’t care about. High ilevel player kills the boss and gets a chance at transmog instead of gear. Problem solved. Everyone’s happy.

No thats not what greed is lol… Since he " needs " the gear for xmog, he rolls need… thats just your definitions lmao, dont blame the players for rolling , blame blizz for making the system

That’s not my definition, that is the definition that the system uses. The system that has been in place since WoTLK and is based on loot rules from Vanilla and BC that were considered proper loot etiquette by the community as a whole. Greed = you don’t “need” it as an upgrade to your current gear. Need = it is an upgrade to your current gear.
LFR is queued content. For some people, LFR is legitimately their endgame. I inch towards higher gear levels in open world content myself, world bosses and tiny baby steps from WQ rewards, but I and a lot of other people refuse to get on the M+ grind because getting into a M+ dungeon is such a chore and the people there tend to be kind of insufferable to people who haven’t been on the M+ grind for years now, even in lower keys, even if it would be “easier” and “more efficient” to gear up that way.
I usually have higher level gear than the stuff that drops by the time I get around to doing LFR a few times just to see the raid, or if there’s a pet or mount or quest reward or some other MacGuffin that I want in there. So if something drops that I don’t need, but might like the transmog…I greed roll it. Because my want for transmog is greed, as opposed to someone might actually need the upgrade.

Except in Wrath and BC we didnt have xmog lmao … You roll need if you need it

No you’re right, transmog was added in Cata, and even 12 years later you still cant “need” for transmog over someone else who needs for an upgrade. That should tell you something.
Ok well thats according to you
No, there are several blue posts and articles that explain how the system works. Just because I am restating these doesn’t mean these rules are something I came up with.
Really ? So if thats how it works then why do players with higher gear are allowed to roll on lower gear ?
You have to have the same item on at a higher iLvl to get the system to stop you from rolling Need.
You can still roll Need if you have a higher iLvl item in the slot that dropped, as long as it’s not exactly the same item.
Just make it so that when you collect an appearance, it also includes the lower-level colour variants.

He still didnt give me an answer after some bs lecture lmao
yup I have a low ilvl shammny, DK, rouge, and mage and a evoker that I barely play but I want mogs so they go in LFR vs other character that’s more gear and will actually help group. Since I don’t play these class often I don’t even know the rotation very well. In fact my eovker dps is so low sometimes is on par with tanks lol
But hey blizzard want this change so we play by their rules.
Because I am not your personal researcher. Google the blue posts yourself. They aren’t hard to find.
I didnt ask you to do research, i just asked you a question which you have no answer cuz u know im right… and the funny thing is your aguring over some scrub LFR gear
Becasue after the current tier very few people join LFR for past tier because ilvl is too low. And you aren’t out gear to do LFR solo even if you have next tier gear. You need legacy buff which as we all know won’t happen till at least 2 expansion later and even then you can’t do LFR anymore it have be qeue.
Also you can’t be 100% sure blizzard will do something like end of SL where all radis are fated so the ilvl for all raid tier in the expansion is the same so people are willing to do them.
Is much easier to get an alt with low ilvl gear and do LFR in current content.
can solo LFR. Just look at legacy content you either pick nomral, heroic or mythic raid when you go back to old raids and farm mogs. There isn’t LFR you can pick. Oh and once the current tier is over and 10.1 comes out try to use LFR for perivous tier. You will be in qeue till end of time and you won’t get a group since everyone have move on and is now queing for the current tier.
