Making an Alt Just to Roll on LFR Gear

I’ve seen a few posts on the General Discussion forum talking about how geared people are needing on LFR gear for mog and how it is upsetting folks who want to gear up through LFR. Blizzard made changes to the LFR gear system to combat this by not allowing folks with higher tier to roll on LFR tier, for example.

In response to this, I (and others) have made an alt just for LFR that barely crosses over the ilvl requirement so I can get the mogs I want for my main. This alt “needs” the gear because it has a low ilvl.

This alt won’t do any content, it’s just there to get me the transmog I want. It won’t put out anywhere near the DPS or HPS of my main and will make the LFR longer because it has no gear.

In the end, people who want their LFR mog will find a way to get it, because how is anyone going to know the alt is just there for mog, verses actually using LFR as a progression system?

Seems silly to not let us have a chance at rolling on gear on our mains, because the main will do much more healing/dps or be easier to heal when tanking.

It is silly. I do the same. So instead of getting my geared 70 to help carry they get my crappy undergeared alts. And i win my mogs that way. Same result just takes longer for everyone. /shrug all the same to me tbh.

I don’t get this concept. If we were at the end of an expansion, or even in the next tier sure. But there are people still gearing up trying to break into normal raids. Because you are impatient at trying to get the mog you want from LFR, you can’t wait until the next tier releases to run your main through LFR and greed on the pieces?

I mean I get it, you contributed to the raid so you should get something. Maybe they can add a bag to the end of LFR with mog pieces in it. What I can’t support is rolling need on gear for transmog for the current tier in an LFR setting when you are decked out in 418 gear and already have your 4p bonus

Then don’t go to lfr. My sub, I pay for it, I can play how I choose. So can you. Fortunately for me, my fun doesn’t rely on your 7k dps to kill stuff.

I just had my alt get all the tier from lfr first before startig proper progression. Cleared out my weekly charge quest as a bonus too for my main.

Know the easiest fix to this?

Personal Loot.

Back at you. My fun doesn’t rely on you pulling 90k DPS/HPS and carrying the raid either. 99.99% of the time these are the ones that are the toxic players crying about the people doing 10k as if they are proving something.

So what exactly are you complaining about? That other people are doing the same content as you and rolling on the gear that you are somehow more entitled to?

Who said I was more entitled or wanted the gear? I said you shouldn’t be able to need on it. Need is for someone who actually needs the gear to progress in the game. Greed is for people who want the gear to look pretty. I mean it’s simple really.

And again, I am not against having a bag for geared players who complete the LFR that has mog pieces in it.

Need means you decide you need that gear. Your needs are not the same as everyone, they only apply to you personally. Everyone is entitled to different ideas of what progression is. If you simply think ilvl is progression, well its no wonder you’re trying to gear up in lfr.

There were other restrictions that players were told would determine who could roll need or win need rolls that were never implemented.

Yep. Many people are now using same armour type low ilvl throw away afk alts to ensure they get roll priority over others for their much higher ilvl main mogs they want. It’s the smart way to do it really, as sad as that is.

I’m considering to delete my necklace piece from Dathea and do runs for Terros necklace, so I can use need. Then I can restore previous gear and get the mount…I’m also checking if the vault can provide the other piece for the mount but maybe I can do both at the same time, since my main cant roll need on LFR and I’m progressing Raz H without doing previous bosses

They didn’t create the problem. This is the only current solution to it so there’s really nothing to not support and there’s no room to blame players doing it. Transmog is the true endgame. It comes to the next season with you. The ilvl, special loot (with rare, rare exception) doesn’t.

This is a pretty good idea, depending how they implement it. Yeah, maybe if you’re above the average ilvl of LFR Raz on a character you get the bag with a piece of LFR transmog. They tried to solve one problem and just created another. Anyone with CE, KSH, or Glad have the mythic effects unlocked now, and collecting LFR tier has even more incentive cause now you get a tight green lightningy thing to go w/ it. That token was an AMAZING idea, now they need to follow it up with another one to fix the transmog issue.

Catalyst and M+ can fill the role of LFR transmog acquisition, but it’s so late in the season and valuable still that it’ll be a couple months before people can convert LFR ilvl mythic+ loot using it.

Yes you can use the automated restore system to do that. I can also confirm you can get both necklaces in the vault. I had 1 vault that had both at the same time :expressionless:

I’m not blaming them, I just don’t agree that it is a good solution. It shows impatience. But if they want to waste their time and level another alt, by all means go for it.

Arguing on the forums calling others toxic, I’m sure it’s everyone else and not you.

It was a general statement. I didn’t call anyone toxic lol.

Why you… I outta…

That’s what gear is there for. It was the same with personal loot. You just got it without knowing you rolled on it. They could do everyone a solid and increase the number of drops.

But people shouldn’t be ashamed for farming for transmog.

Yeah it’s an exceptionally stupid system. I dunno what solvent was being passed around the office when they decided to take personal loot out of LFR but here we are I guess.

This is entirely a consequence of needlessly stupid design.
