Make gear universal: for pvp and pve

I take it you were born about five seconds before you made this comment.

I think they should just do what FFXIV did for PVP: everyone has a preset template, completely separate spell book of PVP-only abilities, and gear is completely cosmetic with no effect on how powerful you are. That way PVP can be balanced separately from PVE and you win through skill and practice, not because you farmed better gear for longer than the other guy.

I actually think PVP should just have a single one automatic, universal ilvl scaling.

Gearing can still exist in PVP, but more to optimize stats.

Which is why I said there is space in the game for both options.
Unrated/Warmode can be the “anything goes” modes, with gear simply being gear.

Rated should be templated. Skill should be the only measure stick for rated games.

It was so much better when it was like this. I fully endorse you & this idea since it would bring back some players to pvp

Boy you need to learn how to read and comprehend what you’re reading! Op said you don’t have to do one to get the other!

Pick your poison. Long queue times or more ways to gear.

The only people who want this are the bad papers who don’t group up or do organized pvp and grind all their gear in unrated group content.

Wouldn’t it be a dream if you could farm all your pvp gear in m+ then go do some rated pvp?

Yeah exactly
blizzard knows grinding pvp gear stinks but they also know all their BG ques are dead on arrival if they allow what the OP is asking.

Yeah maybe but didn’t they effectively try that with tournament realms and abandoned them due to lack of interest?

My suspicion is that while this game has PVP, people actually like the gearing aspect. It’s not really a full-on PVP game.

I can imagine it being crappy if you’re a hardcore pvper but have to start the season late for some reason. But I also suspect hardcore pvpers don’t really mind the hard knocks. I don’t even mind them and I only do pvp for the occasional change of scenery.

You left out where I added, “Or want to”.

Does that clause somehow delete the preceding one?

It used to be like that. PvPers hated having to raid for gear and complained non-stop about it.

Because history has proven it’s junk
Please, don’t dump poop in the street. Now is 2025.

They don’t, but casuals do. And pushing casuals off PvP is not a good move.

They still whinge about it today STILL

@ the start of the season I saw a few threads like that, lmao

Honestly I don’t think Blizzard can win on that issue, it’s a lose = lose situation where there’s going to be complainers either way, so Blizz’ should just do whatever they feel like :person_shrugging:

I finally made it over to the pvp vendors last night to start filling out my sets on a couple alts and see what you mean. I dumbly didn’t buy the conquest trinket set on two alts, only one each, but smartened up and bought both trinks on my hunter. Fortunately the supply chests on my server are mostly won by Alliance so I can make it back and get all the trinks (yes will try to win some bgs too).

So the three alts have a mixture of conquest gear, war mode gear, and one purple crafted shoulder each with an embellishment. The war mode gear scales to 636, the conquest to 639, this seems like generous scaling. I guess my fear is I will still be terrible if I have better gear lol.

I do have one question; what set am I supposed to be wearing when I go unto war mode. Currently I wear my pve set to do world content. Yes I get ganked often.

Also, when season 2 starts, am I going to have to do this all over again? I certainly hope not. As to OP’s original point, gearing this way is fine for me, I just don’t want to be constantly replacing slots. Pve has enough of that already.

It’s a wise idea to bring this back, it will bring back players to pvp

Just put pvp back in the vault. Super bummed couldnt get set items that way with pvp affixes.

Even the players who don’t want to be there? I suppose for someone who wants to PVP, having more sheep to demolish who are only there for the gear, they might find this a wise idea. For the health of the game, however, that seems like a terrible idea.

So make it less assessable and unreasonably grindy? Soooo reasonable. People with skill don’t exist!
