Still sucks knowing you have a much slower render path simply because Apple is Apple. :frowning:

well, in this specific case, it’s just a slower MSAA path (it disables the “alpha test” path which is a more efficient MSAA rendering technique that technically blizzard has called a test feature for years for some reason),

For most part, it’s not being used by pretty much any hardware that’s not recent or powerful anyways.

So I hate to ask but I was really looking forward to the time walking event that now I will need to wait months for again legion was my favorite) as well as lost vault rewards, raid week lockout .etc. and time loss of play for a whole week not to mention time lost of lunar event… Is there going to be any compensation for those of us impacted by this bug that blizzard missed in their QA testing. As a paying customer paying for a subscription service, its quite unacceptable that it took this long to get addressed.

Sadly Blizzard no longer issues compensation except in rather extreme cases. You can ask in the Customer Support forum, but I wouldn’t expect a response in the positive even though this was a weeklong outage for many.

Doesn’t hurt to ask and hey, if I’m wrong and they do compensate for the lost week, that’d be totally grand. Rommax, however, isn’t able to determine whether or not compensation can be given out. He’s strictly a platform dev. If it’s any consolation though, he feels just as badly for the players missing out as I do (and I’ve missed out entirely on Dragonflight so far due to the UI changes - see why in one of my earlier posts in this thread).

Good luck and hope to see you off and playing later today! :video_game:

I think Apple does not develop graphics drivers. Drivers are developed for graphic cards and are verified by Apple.
For example you cannot install any driver NVIDIA releases, only those verified and accepted by some Apple department.

The process is complicated and contains many aspects, but people always need someone to blame, I get it

For comparison to WoW dungeon with randoms - tank will miss an important taunt and cause DPS to take heavy damage, the healer is not capable to heal through it and a few die. So blame the healer, right?

Todays the day (hopefully) I am really disappointed that it took this long to diagnose and potentially fix this problem. I won’t lie, I’m not super hopeful

Now working for me on the latest patch, 10.0.5.47884, with the following:

MacBook Pro (Mid 2015)
macOS 12.6.3
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

they sub contract the devs, all but nvidia anyways and that’s one of reasons they refused to sign drivers in 10.14 and higher. amd and intel and nvidia did make drivers, but AT apple for 2 of the 3 and apple micro managed what did or didn’t go in them. they required full access to source and ability to make changes, usually anti competitive ones even. Did you know apple caps the bandwidth on AMD driver for no reason? performance on nvidia ones for no reason? and on both drivers purposely limit gpu support. Intel ones, well they usually just leave those broken/buggy.

Trust me I know way more about the process than you realize. Between blizzard and apple too. Well devs and apple in general. the driver bugs are apples fault, especially now since they are not fixing them anymore. with movement to apple silicon apple does not care about any of you if you aren’t on an M1 or higher at this point. They want you to buy a new mac and use latest macOS, period. I can promise you if something is busted in macOS 12, or older, it’ll still be busted a year from now, 5 years from now. Developing for macOS is actually a pretty miserable experience, well at least until apple is done phasing everyone to apple silicon, then silver lining after that will be better software support, maybe.

I can now successfully launch WoW with Version 10.0.5.47884

I have one of the overlooked system combos excluded from the patch last week so glad they were able to learn more about the issue and have today’s update correct it.

MacBook Pro (mid-2014)
Intel Core i7
Big Sur 11.7.3
Intel Iris Pro GPU/Nvidia Geforce

Was able to log on yesterday but today not able to log on due to update version 10.0.5.47884. Some mac users have not been able to log on since the 24th.

Able to open wow finally. waiting for the patch now. RIP a whole week of knowledge points and gear.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014
Big Sur
2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB

Yes, same here. I was originally afflicted, but not fixed in the Friday patch. But currently I can get to the point where its telling me the servers are down for maintenance, which is fine. So, so far so good.

Thanks for getting this working. I’m sure it was a pain in the neck. But I do wish you had tested better to prevent it in the first place.

Wonder if we will get anything for not being able to log in for a week now to compensate us…

When it comes to potential compensation for service wide issues, Support is typically unable to provide it based on individual requests. For issues like this the Development teams and Engineers work first to address the issue, then they will determine the impact and what, if any compensation to provide. At the game level. Support generally would only provide direct compensation for individual player issues.
