Mage Tower Returning In 9.1.5 (Maybe): The Hype Is Real!

Potentially adding new cosmetic recolours of tier 20set

There are more cosmetics in the game than legion artifact appearances

I’ve seen plenty of posts with people claiming they want a challenge again and solo content they can work up to

I’d be happier with new content, too, but the way I look at it is that they may as well make the people that want this content back really happy rather than “meh” happy.

I totally think there should be something to differentiate the people who put in the work to grind out a mythic tier and the people who casually run through legacy raids whirlwinding npcs while watching netflix on their other screen. But aye maybe not the full sets.

Yes that has not escaped my notice lol.

No they’ll probably add it. If they don’t it’ll just piss off the Druid players in WoW. At least I hope it does.

Hey, you got the joke!

Actually, I don’t. My preference is entirely new content with entirely new rewards because that benefits all players.

I want it back to practice. Cause honestly the entire game experience that is supposed to train you as a competent solo player before you join a group, is woefully lacking. This doesn’t mean I want a solo experience but rather a better bootcamp to get the necessary info to bring people up to speed.

Blizzard has failed in that completely and I only learned how to play several specs when doing mage tower challenge. And even then coming up with a few unique ways to solve things that looking back on videos made then, I didn’t see people come up. Like bursting shot or psychic scream on karam before purgatory phase to dps raest more. Yes it was “creative gameplay mechanics” but ingenuity should be rewarded.

There’s two sides to the Mage Tower argument. Some people wanted the limited time artifact looks to return, and others liked having the difficult solo challenge boss fight. It didn’t have to be the MT specifically, but many wanted to see that style of content again. Blizz can say yes to one and not the other.

The point of it is just being fun. It’s a blast from the past, something to tag along on the side of Legion’s timewalking. We’ll see how difficult it actually is now, but it still gives really shiny rewards with T20.

I’d think most people who would want the artifact appearances would be Guardian druids.

A sparkly cat is still just a cat, but a bear-man and a regular bear are very different.

Okay great! Well it seems like that’s what we’re getting, so that’s good. That’s my preference as well.

I agree. The mage tower was amazing. Super fun and really made me excited to make and learn alts to get the appearances I wanted. Blizz should make new solo challenges like the mage tower and make… get this new appearances and armors. Even new cat forms. Instead of bringing back and ruining the old exclusive appearances.

A new Druid form would be cool for sure.

9.1.5 has made me pretty hopeful. Blizzard seem to be trying to cultivate good will right now, which means that - for once - reasonable suggestions aren’t just being ignored out of hand.

Probably, yeah.

But some of us had reasons why we had to suddenly exit the game, stage left. Others simply weren’t around then.

Which is why sunsetting is silly. Especially, again, when it comes to druids.

Well, yeah. Understand that, outside of Legion, druids have received all of 1 alternate feral form, which was only really usable in a single raid and bears have received zero. This is for the entire almost two decades of WoW’s lifespan.

It’s one thing to have one mog among hundreds, if not thousands, be sunset. It’s quite another thing to have one of 4 sunset - especially when it’s your only ‘flashy’ option, or only really unique one.

No, it really is spite.

That’s the only way I can frame this.

If your kid told you that their toy was less special because the poor kid down the block also got one, then you’d probably tell them that they were being a selfish little brat.

Unless the opinion is pretty spectacularly unanimous (and honestly even then) the forums are not really a good indicator of the opinions of the playerbase at large.

All you can do is put forward the feedback (opinions) you have, and defend them as best you can - and then hope Blizzard reads it and agrees.

Sadly, this does not apply to druids. Which is sort of the fracture point of this entire issue.

Its not silly. I started in MoP. I can’t go back to Cata and get the elite sets. I can’t go back into vanilla and get corrupted ashbringer or atiesh.

Idk i’m perfectly happy and content with my glory of the legion hero white and blue kitty and when i want to match my mog i have 20 other cat forms to pick from :woman_shrugging:

At least we’re getting travel forms

They should add more, but retired appearances is not it

Jokes about druids aside I agree. Adding more druid form appearances is long overdue.

Sure.

But these are one weapon appearance, among thousands.

For druids, it’s one form appearance among like…4.

That’s sort of the issue here.

No it isn’t. There is zero wrong with challenging content and trophies for performing in said content. If I host a bowling tournament on a Friday, a Saturday, and a Sunday - and you must compete within that time frame to win a trophy, is it spite when little Tommy comes in Monday and says he didn’t know about it and I politely inform him that the deadline has passed and he cannot compete? No. Same logic here.

You wouldn’t walk into a bowling alley a year after a tournament and demand you be given a trophy from a year ago. They would look at you like you’re nuts. Same concept here. You’re calling it spite because you’re emotionally charged and invested and hoping Blizzard caters to you instead of honoring their commitment to the people who performed within certain criteria under certain time limits.

Druids got 28 forms in legion (cats anyway) - you dismiss that all out of hand because you didn’t get the achievement A Challenging Appearance when it was open at the mage tower (and you were playing around then). Those appearances, you know the other 24 you dismiss out of hand, are pretty cool.

Now I will agree we’ve not really seen anything cool in a while and unless I want to play a KT and level another Druid (which I did, let’s face it) there’s not been any love for our forms.

I think we could use some more “new” forms for sure, I agree with that.

Its not a issue though. Druids can use the other apperances. Just not that one.
