I am actually quite happy about this.

Not just because it means that I can maybe get the few things that I was unable to, but because I hope that this represents a change in Blizzard’s design philosophy, moving away from arbitrarily sunset/timed exclusive content.

I think that the arguments for ‘exclusivity’ are outweighed by how frustrating it must be for new or returning players to realize that so many meaningful customization options are simply not obtainable by them, especially when it’s that one thing that would make their avatars ‘perfect’ for them.

That said, if this does happen, the reactions are going to be…interesting.

EDIT: If this really is only the recolored T20 sets, I hope that Blizzard considers throwing druids a bone and giving us some recolors of the were-bear and disco kitty. These are really the only ‘flashy’ form ferals have access to and probably the most unique guardian form as well.

EDIT 2: I appreciate that this is something of a contentious issue. Please, let’s keep this thread constructive.

For those against druids getting access to those forms again, please consider what it would be like if your character only had access to 3 or 4 transmogs, and only one of those transmogs was meaningfully different to the rest. And that transmog was locked behind participating in one tier of one expansion, forever, with little chance of you getting any more.

EDIT 3: For those saying that ‘well, this has value because it’s scarce’ - why not think of if it terms of ‘timed scarcity’ rather than ‘timed exclusivity’?

The best example would be green fire for warlocks. You had your time to preen in MoP, when this was rare. However, as green fire is sort of cool and a meaningful tool for character customization for warlocks, this wasn’t removed from the game and now anyone who wants it can chase it down.

I’d say that forms for feral/guardian druids should be looked at more like green fire is, rather than transmog - as we don’t really get transmogs.

They’re not bringing back the artifact skins, so far there’s no sign of that. The new Mage Tower is extremely likely to be the source of the tier 20 recolor sets that are being datamined.

Blizz would be reviving basically just the challenge mode content, not the old rewards.

Yeah some tuning changes happened to the encounters.
Shame no werebear (I have it but I know others want it)(maybe early to tell, still lots of time left).

If they bring back mage tower, cool (would be a nice change for them away from their usual stance… but also with solo q islands, and perhaps this, will give people things to do which is a big plus)

datamining suggests mage tower returning and t20 recolour as the reward. datamining has yet to suggest artifact appearances

Game doesn’t need more people with mage tower. I don’t have the chance to go back and get the MoP sets I missed from cmodes.

Considering that the druid forms are pretty much some of the only combat customization druids get, and that the ‘sparkle kitty’ is pretty much the single visually distinctive choice that ferals get, this would really suck if true.

I’m actually ambivalent towards the kitty, as I don’t play feral.

I mean, I don’t not want it, but I’m happy with anything that moves away from silly sunsetting of really cool stuff.

THIS exactly.

I don’t care about the mage tower - I don’t play this game for “personal challenges” content - but I’m happy for all the people who have wanted it to come back. As someone who missed out on the phoenix mounts in MoP because I couldn’t find a group to complete the challenge dungeons in time, I know how frustrating it is when the content and rewards get removed.

Now, Blizz - can we have the legendary cloak quest chain restored to MoP?

Not only does it offer four unique cloaks AND access to Ordos, but it was also one of the best-made story quest chains in the game’s history, and provides a ton of lore about Wrathion that provides backstory to later events.

The mage tower coming back is likely to be with new rewards. It’s probably where the T20 recolors are coming from. Which is a very good thing, keep the old rewards time sensitive and add new rewards. That’s the way to do it

Even without artifact appearances they can still add say updated skins for Druids and as posted in other thread about MT 2.0 the old rewards are still gone these shall be new rewards.

This is pointless without the artifact skins. Most of the people that actually want this back want them. This is content I don’t want, but if you’re going to make it at least make the people that want it happy.

It was never arbitrary with challenge modes. All challenge modes were limited time.

And it better just be how you get the tier 6 recolor sets. Not the weapons.

if that’s the case, I really hope that they consider giving druids something here, even if it’s just recolors of the MT forms.

I don’t think it would be bad if new Druid forms came out of mage tower-like content or something. Don’t return the old ones but make something new, that’s totally fine.
