Mage Tower, Oh my

I messed with it a little this time around. Once I did a little research and found out the best way to do it is to use old gear and enchants I was done.

Bad scaling and taking away abilities is not fun gameplay. For me anyway.

No where did I say that. I said that not everything is meant for everyone in this game, and I included myself in that same statement that you only quoted half of.

This is the whole statement. Not everything is meant for me in this game either. And insinuating that I would suggest someone is too stupid to realize something when I openly state later in the thread that I coach people for free in both PvP and PvE is silly. In order to coach someone, they must be willing to learn, and I am confident in that everyone can learn to do anything. Let’s not try to take something someone said out of context and twist it please. It’s unbecoming.

I never once made such a comment. I said the challenge should be preserved because it was intended upon release to be challenge content, and it was stated again in a blue post to still be intent as a piece of solo challenge content.

This right here is nonsense. No one is stopping you from completing something other than yourself. Stop with this nonsense mentality.

I am not supporting bait and switch and I have been more than vocal more than once involving some challenges which were obviously overtuned (hpriest and havoc) or some challenges which I felt the initial direction was lost (such as Tugar for discipline).

I am supporting that challenge be preserved and that people rise up to a challenge which is, regardless of what you think, easily done.

I say people that completed the challenges during Legion should automatically get the rewards.

Don’t have xbox control would a Playstation controller work?

Yes and no. When the mage tower return was announced, I set my sights on the book mount (I actually voted for the book mount, so this feels a bit bad, as I knew the tree would be pretty but overall meh) . In the first go (the extended month) I got guardian, fury and windwalker; so, two gimmes and the one to get. 3/7, not bad. Since they made it permanent, I was able to clear outlaw and ret. So I’m at 4/7. In looking at the specs for xylem and twins, I’m a bit discouraged, because there’s some prep as well as getting the spec’s ins and outs memorized, and I am not THAT good with ANY of the specs for those two challenges; and for healer, that was always gonna be my biggest hurdle, as I have never played healer.

I might come back to it later in the year, unsure if it will be better to do it now vs after the Dragonflight talent redesign, but I’m kind of tuckered out. I see the remaining mage tower challenges as beating a certain boss in Elden Ring who has never known defeat: Can I do it? Yes, probably. Can I do it without losing my gosh darned mind? Probably not.

And yeah, I beat her, and by I, I mean me and my mimic tear because I have no shame.

Out of curiosity, how “old world” are we talking? Mythic Legion dungeon level, or mythic raid level? I got a bunch of these when they were Legion current (though not the healer one - SCREEEEEW THAT), but it seemed to me that it got a lot harder when it was redone for SL.

All Legion raid in any difficulty except antorus normal, heroic, lfr.

I got my book wearing shadowlands season 2 m+ and pvp gear.

Yep, so long as it’s compatible with your computer, just about any kind will work. WoW has native controller support now, so you don’t need any special addons, but I still use ConsolePort, mostly out of habit.

Exactly and I meant no offense to this individual. My comments were directed at another person directly. This individual’s medical situation is a totally different thing and it’s nothing like what I was referring to

lol, no offense but maybe it’s the 37.5k achievement points. Just saying…

gratz by the way

He was talking about the velf, though. Not me.

Cheers.

All of the Legion gear is normalized to ilvl 50 basically, and even if it wasn’t, it would get scaled down.

You just want the old stuff because you can put extra enchants on there that you can’t put on SL gear, which makes it “free” extra power (doesn’t cost stat budget to put Mark of the Satyr on your neck). Or in some cases, weapon enchants that can’t be put on modern weapons that you can put on older weapons - crusader enchant for instance before it was nerfed - not sure what’s considered a meta weapon enchant now TBH.

Any gear configuration is single digit power creep. Just learn the fight. Killing a 6 minute fight 35 seconds faster isn’t going to make or break the encounter for you nearly as much as learning the fight better.

Yep the void elf who has a 231 item level Mythic rating of 0 and no PVE achievements from this expansion what so ever.

The only thing a elite about me it’s the fact that I’m still playing after 17yrs

Uhm… what?

Yes it will. It absolutely will. Sigryn’s overlaps get worse as the fight goes on. Similarly with Twins, the faster you can end the fight the easier as the kiting gets more hectic as the fight goes on. Ending the fight 30 seconds faster on Twins saves you from the worst part.

Similarly with Xyleem or BRH you can be lax on the exact positioning if you don’t have to go to the absolute nail-biting finish. Or in the case of Kruul, if you avoid having an Infernal the final phase becomes much easier or if you can avoid an Annihilate you can be much more lax and use defensives more freely.

Tugar and Agatha are probably the only ones jumping out at me where having more DPS doesn’t make them substantially easier… but those are already the easiest two so that’s kind of a lol.

If you’re that close to those breakpoints, maybe. But if you’re that close, the gear isn’t stopping you from finishing.

At no point in any of the fights did I ever think that gear was holding me back or preventing me from winning.

I fully agree to quote a comment I made earlier

With the difference of one second was the difference between a pass or fail

You seem to be avoiding the point more than anything.

learning the fight and doing it properly is more important than just getting the gear.
getting gear might help you with an enrage timer, but if you’re not even hitting that end timer, gear isn’t the problem yet.
