It was a lot because raids*, dungeons and I think pvp didn’t give us weapon appearances. It all came from the artifact. Everyone got three except for DH that has two and Druids which got four. Sure, each class that didn’t participate in Legion misses out on 16 appearances but they still get 60 (8 from class hall, 4 from BoP, 4 from pvp and 4 from hidden x3) out of the xpac. It’s not like they got nothing and some people feel the BoP, pvp and/or hidden looks better than the MT but, you know, since they’re still in the game they’re not as desirable.
*Forgot about the two scythe, mace and 2h sword.
The definition of entitled is wanting special treatment. The rules were in Legion that if you did a thing, you got a thing. Everyone that was around in Legion had the same rules. People that want the MT skins brought back are asking for special rules. “Well I want it because it matches my latest mog” is asking for special treatment.
So to call someone an entitled child with a toy because they’re like “nah stick to the rules” is hypocrital.
Regardless of how it happened, and I do know why, it doesn’t change that the mage tower is one of the largest chunks of unavailable seasonal gear and that is something worth addressing because its not just the number of items its the unique weapon forms and even the only case of druid forms being locked from druids. I’m having trouble thinking of a similar case, it’d be like if the green fire quest after pandaria stopped giving green fire instead of just the title.
Fair enough, I am working under the assumption that “I don’t have it” isn’t implicit to the argument, but at the end of the day that is my own bias. If the argument and mockery is assumed to be based on not having the weapon appearances I can see the argument for hypocrisy.
When I came back to the game (been off and on since 2004 like a lot of people) I learned about the Mage Tower because people were upset it had been removed. The new Mage Tower came back and at first I was pumped and ready to give it a go because I thought I could get those old druid forms I had missed the first time… except those skins didn’t return. I wasn’t motivated to do the new challenge when I couldn’t get the reward from it that I wanted, since that was the whole point of it to me. I’m not sure what part of that concept is hard for you to understand?
Believe it or not, people have different motivations and reasons for doing different achievements. I’m in it for the specific transmog, not any other reason, so… no transmog, no plans to do it. Sorry if that bothers you and you think checking my achievements is some kind of gotcha, LOL.
Haha that’s not what’s going on and you know it. Nobody’s shaming people for simply earning something and being proud of it. Good lord.
If there’s any shaming going on, it’s against those who want the chance to earn these with an equivalent challenge. The “You weren’t there, deal with it, these are my precious pixels” schtick.
I’ve already explained this. When I first came back to the game, MT had recently been removed. Then MT came back but did not award the specific druid form (to match the glowy bear I do have from Balance of Power + KSM) I wanted, so I was not motivated to do the new MT. If new MT awarded what I was looking for, I would absolutely be doing it and putting in the effort until I got it. Again - how is this a hard concept? Me not having done the challenge is literally because I wasn’t here the first time around to do it, and my motivation for doing it now is a transmog we’ve all acknowledged that I can’t get… so why would I do it? This isn’t the gotcha or shaming/belittling you think it is.
Speaking of shaming & belittling…
I don’t see anyone shaming people for acquiring digital trophies. Truly, genuinely congratulations to everyone who was around for the original MT and beat the challenge.
I just don’t agree with the argument that somehow your digital trophy has less meaning just because others can get it. You still have your trophy and it still has meaning for you, you don’t suddenly have less trophy just because others have it, too. It’s not pie. That argument implies other peoples’ success is a loss for those who have also achieved it, and that’s just strange.
I’ve accepted that the look isn’t coming back, and I’m pretty sure we can all agree, since that’s the case, that those looks should then be removed from the druid barber shop.
This is still not good enough. The time rifts include a lot of unused designs, which only shows that the game lacks in variety. It’s just a band-aid to the problem they caused in the first place. Sooner or later they won’t have any choice but release the MT-weapons again, because they haven’t done designs this good.
I disagree. It only shows the actual issue with the game: Because of how limited the tech is, people need actually beg to get the right color for their desired transmog. Other games have a color wheel, while this isn’t possible for WoW apparently.
Blizzard is more than capable of improving the variety and quality of their mogs, and once again doubling down on class fantasy. I recall similar doubts when people asked Blizz to improve race customization options.
You guys should consider doing something somewhat productive and ask Blizzard to return to the class fantasy based mogs in the next expansion and introduce NEW or even better mogs than what we saw in MT.
You are NOT entitled to every item in the game. The variety adds a spice to the game that you want to ruin with suggestions like:
It’s on Blizzard to continue to deliver high quality content. It’s their fault - not mine, or yours. Your suggestion takes Blizzard off the hook, whereas I ask for higher quality and more content in the game - it’s as simple as that.
I hate FOMO and think they should stop doing it. There are many things i would love to get but cant because its no longer obtainable for really no reason. But, the fact that they said they were limited time makes me think they should stick to what they say. But hey, recolors would be fine, like the Fel Werebear skin. personally i want more Shaman Totem shoulders like the MoP challenge appearance
They already go into this direction. These items have been made available for either all races or classes, with the newest example being the upcoming Wildhammer Dwarf helmets in a future Trading Post update. But then again, they also allow race-specific designs be worn by other races.
Simply not good enough.
That’s not the point - but if I can’t even have a FOMO goblin rocket, while it has been promoted with the race to this day, then there is something clearly wrong with the distribution of World of Warcraft. And this is just one example, where class fantasy is denied simply because someone found it so wise to release good items as FOMO-content.
Yet they brought Mage Tower back. I mean, toward the end of Legion it wasn’t that hard to get. I’m sure they could easily replicate that difficulty now.
Lol good lord. People want to be able to earn a trophy and be proud of it. That’s entirely the opposite of shaming people for being proud of the things they earned.
Meanwhile the other side is getting blasted with “you weren’t there get over it, things happen like real life, who cares of its a video game that people play to get away from real life issues lawl, my pixels not yours neener neener neeeeennneerrrr.”
I’m not sure what this means. You still have to have your weapon to unlock the appearances and do the same requirements we did in Legion, minus the MT.
If you mean they’re not tied to specs, yes I know that. Legion is done. The weapons, like I said many times, are deactivated. There’s no reason to have the same transmog restrictions as we did in Legion when they’re now cosmetic.
Agreed and there’s no reason to have the appearances based on the mechanics of Legion anymore either. They’ve put effort into recreating the Mage Tower as a challenging solo experience, there’s no reason they can’t still award the base weapon appearances and druid forms for completion of that experience.
The other forms are still tied to achievements that you could get after Legion.
