I recently returned and haven’t played since legion. I was hoping to get the “Essence of Calm” skin for transmog for my mistweaver monk as it’s one of the coolest staff appearances I’ve seen in wow, however after looking up how to unlock I see it was locked behind a mage tower challenge. I get that legion has passed but other past sets are available through purchase from vendors.
blizzard should make these obtainable again somehow. This is even one of the very, very few appearance items I would even be willing to pay real money for.
The Mage Tower argument has been around since BFA. I assure you, you don’t want to shake that bag of angry cats.
As far as all the other appearances, literally all of them are still obtainable, even the Balance of Power ones. You’re just gonna have to let Mage Tower go though. I’m sorry.
I played in Legion, but I never did Broken Shore, so I totally missed out on all that and I’m still kicking myself over it. I wish they would bring them back. It’s been years now. The Mage Tower purists have had their appearances for YEARS. But it’s a slippery slope, they’d have to bring back old CM stuff too and they’re definitely not doing that.
I hope Blizz sticks to their guns and doesn’t give into pressure, but recolors maybe? That’s a good compromise, I think, because the Mage Tower guys get to keep their OG ones, we get new ones, and they get new ones too! Now they got double the sick appearances!
Blizz can even do the same thing as before, lock them behind the new Mage Tower. Add them with the new recolors of armor sets. It’s so much harder now than it used to be, since you can’t outgear it. Totally reasonable, imo.
Idk, I really don’t think things should ever be removed from the game, and that old stuff should be brought back, I have most of it, so it’s not like i’m shooting for things I don’t have, I want to give what I have to everyone.
The MT appearances were made with the intention to be exclusive to when the MT was active. If you want additional appearances, be around when they are around and available or look for alternatives. Look to Guardian druids getting the fel-bear form from the re-release of the MT as an example.
Learn what FOMO means, but you won’t. No one who uses FOMO on these forums even think about looking up what it means or examples of how it is applied in actuality.
Relearn yes, regear no. You’re always going to be scaled down to the same effect, regardless of what gear you have. Yes, there are people who buy tons of twink gear to kinda blow through it, but it’s really not necessary. Since the addition of the new talent trees, the Mage Tower has been pretty trivial. I got the Guardian one done in only a small handful tries. Maybe 5-10?
Fear of missing out, using rewards to drive people to play or spend during a time by telling them they can only get them during that time, this is EXACTLY what the MT rewards were.
And blizzard does love fomo, the trading post “coming back at SOME point”, removing mounts/pets from the store but having big “going away, maybe forever!” sales, etc
In the context of exactly what I was thinking, when saying they love FOMO, was more directed at AOTC mounts.
They add these really sick mounts, every raid tier since…I dunno, WoD? And then completely take them out of the game, never to return. You didn’t do heroic back then? Well, guess you missed out. Are you scared? You have a fear? Well you have a fear of missing out. A…FOMO! If you will!
