Offtopic, i rerolled from mage and alot of guildmates that play mages only raid log or rerollled or quit the game. About equally for all the 3 cases, cause the class is no fun and you cant really do much and enjoy the game outside a raid setting.
Agree, 99% of the community agree mages need a bit of help in survivability for sure. 25% damage reduction for them across the board is a start.
buff damage on top of that, and then make beacon from regen indispellable.
They have to do somthing…. Its at one point not fair.

Arcane DPS needs a major buff aswell.
We also need more range across every spec. Having arcane and frost at 30 yards is bad. And the Arctic reach talent doesn’t even work for Ice Lance and Spellfrost bolt…
I actually like mage pvp atm (though it’s an uphill battle for sure). I’d love to see these minor changes:
-Boost our hp by 1500 or so
-Make most/all our runes undispellable
A slightly bigger ask:
-remove the very crushing 50% less self heals from chronomantic healing. Outside of CSP, this is how all mages heals are allocated (including rewind time)
Yeah mage has a lot of option and the game play can be dynamic.
Main issue for me (I’m not R13 yet so I kinda wait and see) is survivability. It’s not too bad in BG but it’s absolutely unplayable in WPvP. Some form of survivability (even if only against magic) would be greatly appreciated.

I won’t tell you what to enjoy by any means, but Mage needs damage buffs at minimum for PvP. This play-style to the vast majority of us is toxic and not fun.
You just quoted what served your purpose here. I acknowledge that its hard but also advocate for changes despite still enjoying the class.
Many that are running Spellfrost for instance would have more dps from my suggested change above to not have our runes dispellable. I also, again, think we need about an extra 1500 hp
yea mages are pretty much victims. i play a warrior and just zug them, whenever i see a light blue class i just froth at the mouth and double charge/death grip them back. maybe ill throw in a fap to make them cry while i pound them.
just remove the dmg reduction from mages and it should fix most of the issues. being a non threat while free casting is a joke.

If I am able to free cast I should be chunking health bars. Right now we are all glass without any of the cannon.

If a mage has a reasonable hp pool, they can just kite and kill warrior very easy
survival isnt an issue its just damage. 1v1 sure mage dmg is ‘ok’ when talking about in a duel but in bgs with hp buffs etc its just a joke. i just expect mages to be a threat but never can take them seriously. shadow priest dots hit harder than their castables. under perfect conditions yes a mage can crit for 2k+ maybe but who cares when i have 14k life.
the reality is mages were strong in classic bc everyone else’s toolkit sucked. give melee mobility and they just fall apart. adding 40% dmg reduction vs spells makes this feel even worse.
I find duels / open world to be much more challenging due to the lack of hp. I find mages still have many tools at their disposal to counter many classes. With warriors and rogues I find just having more hp to be the biggest contributing factor. The exception to what we can compete with I find is hunters because they can auto + aimed/chimera or w/e for massive dmg from distance without the possibility of much counter play
Survival is a big issue. Even in BG I can loose half my HP by the time my GCD comes back to use nova or blink. Wars can auto+ MS for 3k damage, same with rogues and their shadowstep out of GCD and pala.
I’m not R13 yet so hoping once full gear it will be better but atm there is too much damage we can’t evade. Maybe updating our Ice armor and Mage armor to offer more mitigation against melee and casters or have blink out of GCD but it’s near unplayable atm.
I like the gameplay that they made for mage though, I just wish we could use it a bit more. Casting atm is just too hard, especially with casts going 2.5sec with no pushback protection (since frost is the way to go with ZG gear).
Dying against a war or rogue in the little amount of time it takes to move from your nova so you can be out of reach is bad design. I always enjoyed rogue/mage duels but getting smacked by backstabs in your face removing a third of your HP bar in a global is not too apealing. Even when saving your CD to match the opponent’s you can end up dying from a lucky crit (not so lucky anymore since everyone runs with 40+% crit atm).
With ZG set, frost damage feels good (except Ice Lance still being underwhelming) but more HP/pushback protection/mitigation is indeed necessary.
