In pugs, you end up with people getting carried all the time regardless. At best you can minimize that risk by looking up people’s raider io experience. If you’re just randomly choosing people based on their ilvl only, that’s on you.

Honestly, I find it a lot of fun. One of the best thing about M+ is overcoming keys/bosses that felt impossible at some point (+ the process of beating it: adjusting your talent tree, improving your gameplay, being more aware of crucial interrupts etc).
As for season 2: I am not very optimistic about some dungeons but still hope they keep them challenging but nothing like COT or GB.
About having less active players: I think its an issue of lack of engaging content to do outside of M+ and Raiding.

Can’t you turn lower crests into higher ones?
Because then we would gear faster and have less to do… myth gear is still rewarding to get most of the time for me. Lol
Once you outgear a crest, you can upgrade said crests to the next tier at a rate of 45 per 15. It used to be 90 per 15, so it’s gotten better.
I just want crests to be account bound.

It’s literally just a bar to reach to get the next level of gear. It has nothing to do with ego. May as well give myth gear from tier 5 delves if you feel that way but then the game gets boring because there are less things to shoot for…
Rewards are also getting stronger if they move it to a harder place. (SL → DF.)
Blizzard likes people playing the game, and a 3 ilvl incentive is enough. If crafted gear is the same ilvl as mythic gear, it demotivates a lot of people from doing content.
And people actually like being better than others, so few will argue lower the difficulty to the level of LFR / Heroic dungeons for max ilvl loot.

I do. Ideally everyone has the freedom to play the class and spec they like best and not the class and spec that is the easiest or offers the most rewards.
I would consider players switch to dps because it is what they prefer a huge win and combine it with it taking less time for dps to get into groups – sounds like an amazing change to me.
If you’re just doing keys to get mythic track but have never pushed for portals this provides more motivation. A bunch of people in my guild went for portals this season because it.

I wish they’d just put myth track gear into the store already.
There are those of us that don’t have time to gear alts to bis and having the option to purchase everything in the store would save us a ton of time. In line with your point, I would also love if everyone had mythic track gear…if for any reason to see the “narcissistic ego maniacs” squirm because their ilvl-based self-worth is in shambles.

some people don’t see any point in doing anything unless it rewards the best possible rewards. anything less isn’t worth their time.
Sounds like a different game that rewards instant gratification for everything they do would be a better game for them then.
