M+ gilded crest and character growth is a problem

In previous seasons someone capped at 15s were gear capped.

They were getting champion gear EoD, hero gear in the vault, and wyrm crests only.

There was no way to improve their gear beyond that because they didn’t have access to fully upgrade their hero gear with aspect crests, or way to craft the highest item level gear.

Someone doing 8s now is actually in a better spot because they are getting hero gear faster since they are getting it from EoD and the vault.

So go do the last 2 bosses of heroic and start doing 9s and 10s. Figure it out. Find a group of friends to push, join a guild, there are options for you. Hell there’s communities and discord servers specifically for organized pugs for those who do not want to commit to a guild/group week on week.

It’s a harder curve for sure, but to say its insurmountable is just untrue.

Yes, that’s what I’m going to do.

That doesn’t change the fact that there is a large stretch where you will be getting no real returns for the effort you put in. Getting 6/8 heroic will be no more rewarding than 8/8 normal aside from some extra runed crests you could get easily elsewhere. Not to mention the huge gap in M+ that will NOT be rewarding despite keys going up in difficulty.

That is the point, it is not as rewarding and well designed as previous seasons. There is a sizeable gap that provides zero progression. That’s the complaint and it is valid.

Why dont you just go kill the last boss in mythic? figure it out bro?

It’s a harder curve for sure, but to say its insurmountable is just untrue.

I mean thats the plan when I get to it. You progress to your goal.

Right but why not do it right now? Are you lazy?

that would be great and sounds true enough except the jump from 15 to 16 is in no way shape or form comparable to the jump from 8 to 9

If you think I am implying that he was lazy then you really are a true Pagle classic player.

No, I was using hyperbole to point out how stupid your post was. Not shocked you did not understand that

according to these posters, everything is fine LOL

with the M+ lvl squish its like having old +5 and old +18 give the same ilvl reward all the way through and they are saying this is GOOD. such AMAZING linear progression that is!

Agreed, that for most of mythic+ life its rewards were very high for its (lack of) difficulty.

So I think we are in agreement that it’s mainly subjective on where people think the bar should be set.

sure, opinions are opinions, that doesn’t remove the fact that the bar went WAY UP while progression got deleted and a bunch of folks are checking out of this ‘end game pillar’ very early in the season.

That’s not good nor healthy for the game in the long run. why do people care so much ‘scrubs’ eventually get to a respectable ilvl? if you are good at the game, you can clear hard content with less ilvl, if you aren’t as good at the game you could still clear the hard content eventually due to ilvl upgrades because gear eventually overcame the difficulty.

Nobody disputes that the gear grind is longer at all levels, but many of you are overreacting to this. I can tell you that even high-end raiders and M+ are not happy with the changes for different reasons. I think the thing we can all agree on is that these first few weeks are going to be rough at all levels.

Like I said, later in the season, you will still have high ilvl players running 9s and 10s and be willing to bring in lower ilvl players. The raid will also become more accessible to progress with the strands buff which is superimpactful since pretty much all the bosses can be overcome with pure throughput and will become easily farmed more and more as the weeks go on. It will ease out but certainly I do not deny that these changes have really made the first quarter/third of this season a slog at every gameplay level.

not only is this absolutely wrong especially for puggers but also the lower ilvl players wont be around anymore because they left.

That’s right because people who are only 630 are going to CBA on 9 other ilvls and only rely on mythic raids. Also, many 2-night mythic guilds do not reclear at all and extend week after week, so their only source of gear will be from the vault, so they will be in 10s. Not to mention some crazy people want to minmax to the point of absurdity and will continue to get 3 M+ vault slots till the end of the tier all for a 0.3% DPS increase.

You really tried here

They can keep mythic track gear at 10 keys… Fine.

But gilded crests need to drop from 7s or 8s.

Heroic track gear still tops out at 626, 13 levels behind mythic.

The world race is over. Let me people progress their toons. If they wanna get sweaty and run hundreds of keys, so be it.

Not really since there is data showing that this is the case. It will be even more so if Blizzard actually does their job and actually further tune these god awful dungeons given WuE gear and the crest discount.

As for people dreading/dooming at prospect of finding people to do keys that aren’t jerks theres a couple Discord servers you can use to find pugs and what not.

This is not saying anything meaningful.

What’s being debated is what proportion of people should be a healthy expectation for crossing the line.

Your replies are just whataboutism. They’re meant to distract the conversation from demanding changes. “There will always be people who can’t get top gear, so there’s really no need to bring down the threshold” is transparently asinine to most people here in the thread.

Let’s not even mention how ridiculous the cap on even runed crests are. 360 by this week. What an absurdly low cap. I will have done my delves and gotten my weekly keys and by the time I enter heroic raid tonight I will not get more than 15 crests for the total run.

You know what people do when they gear up their mains quickly? They go gear more alts. Now that gearing a main takes horrendously longer, some of you will laughably ferret out the excuse about WuE gear for alts.

Come on, I have a druid, a shaman, a rogue, and a mage at 80 as alts. Of the WuE drops, 80% have been plate because I have a lv70 dk and a lv50 paladin. What a joke. And that WuE gear is veteran track garbage. By now you can craft your alts better gear than that and one week of delves will replace that.

The conversation is about how easy/hard keys should be for the rewards relative to other game modes.

Keys have been potato easy for their rewards for a long time, this time they aren’t and people are “upset”.

That’s all it’s about. Opinion on how hard content should be relative to its rewards.
