Your definition of hard is social capital and other social barriers to entry. That’s not personal player skill difficulty it is social difficulty. It’s the same difficulty as getting a country club membership. Puggable doesn’t mean easy. It just means the barrier to attempt and fail and reform is lower so people can practice and eventually overcome it without having 19 close friends and a set raid time. Your old selfish my way or the highway attitude is whats wrong with the game. Why do you think arbitrarily gate keeping content from players is a good thing?
If by best of the best you mean people with high amounts of social capital and free time yes. If you mean people with the actual gameplay skill to learn and clear the fights than no it really isn’t. I guarantee that a large portion of the player base with the requisite skill at the game to clear mythic is simply barred from entry due to the way raids are set up past heroic. Even some raid is king raiders on this thread have agreed with me on this. Why shouldn’t more people be allowed to at least try it?!
Blizzard isn’t forcing people into it though. The people crying here are fomoing over a difference of a few ilevels that probably wouldn’t make that much of a difference in the content they engage in.
That is part of the raiding landscape though. You want to play online games that require a lot of teamwork, yet you can’t be bothered to put in the effort to socialize.
Mythic raid teams are in the same vein as any beer league team sport. You can’t just walk onto a soft ball league usually and just be part of the team, people are going to tell you to get out lol. The same thing goes for Mythic raiding, it is aimed at guilds dude.
If you want pug raid, then stick to heroics, otherwise you need to be more social.
There is zero changes that can be made to made hard content more accessible to people that can’t be bothered to put an ounce of effort into socializing in order to be part of a raid team.
So you think there are far too many players still subscribing to the game, and they should fix that, and change wow into something it never was to make you feel like it’s your safe space.
Do this with Mythic raiding and M+ past 15 and honestly, that would be healthier for the game.
Just have the end of gear progression be Heroic raid item level, put keys on par with that overall (+15 end of dungeon gives heroic equivalent, +15 vault gives end boss heroic equivalent), and let fun be fun past that.
If you really want to go back in time, the only purpose of dungeons was gearing up to raid. You got your gear and never set foot in a dungeon again. That’s why people had to pay tanks to tank for them in classic.
If they decided to put heroic+ in retail, we currently have no idea what it would look like on implementation.
This is always a really bad idea for raiding because it means you only kill a boss once during progression, so if you weren’t in for the first kill you never see it until the tier is over. That would kill any semblance of a bench, which makes it harder to accommodate absences. Makes it harder for people that aren’t FOTM classes to see kills on fights, makes raid buff classes even more advantaged, etc.
