M+ gear gap widening vs Mythic raiding

The latest datamine dump indicates weekly M+ rewards will now scale up to ilvl 418 (at a keystone level of M18) which is 6 ilvl shy of the highest Mythic raiding gear.

Pre-edit: It gives some of us non-raiders something to push towards all season long.

Edit: as someone pointed out, the gear difference is mostly unchanged from current content. It does curb my enthusiasm a bit…

Edit 2: seems like the gear gap is even worse than current content, at max difficulties. Well, that’s a RIP.

Was expecting 20 to be the cap, strange they went with 18.

It might just have to do with tuning. S1 of SL was ultra tough compared to subsequent seasons so it could be that.

I agree, and that’s why aotc should be 1 month and removed, can’t have all those heroic raiders who can’t clear a raid until the last month be rewarded.

Honestly, what they should do is make M+ (at its highest reward) be EQUAL to Mythic Raiding. Why?

If only to prove that it’s not the GEAR that makes Mythic Raiding. 90% or more is about mechanics.

I dabble in Mythic raiding and … it’s not like I got any flipping gear to drop anyway. lol Literally ALL of my gear came from M+. But Mythic Raiding is still fun because the CHALLENGE is still there.

It still creates a bad system where M+ is SOOOOOOOO much easier than Heroic raiding, but the rewards for M+ are so much better. That part feels out of place.

I Just think Mythic Raiding is only done by (sic) 800 people so … what’s the point of it? At what point do you just say “if you don’t get world first, you can’t play it.”

Let the timestamp on the Achv mark how “tough” you are. Did you clear it in week 3, or week 9? Nerf the raid every week so more people can experience it.

I dunno… in a weird mood atm. I guess Wrath-Classic has reminded me how much I hate how predictable raiding is as end-game content. Raid, gear up … reset. Raid, gear up… reset. There HAS to be another way to make the end-game fun.

I agree, another concern is how good raid weapons and trinkets will be compared to M+ because right now they’re superior to whatever M+ offers this season for doing higher keys.

as long as M+ season and pvp season is also one month, sure.

really it should be number of unique guilds, not time-based. the pace should be player-driven as this is a persistent world game so there is no need for FOMO.

Apparently some folks over on the M+ discord corrected me and that Razageth can drop ilvl 430 loot. So actually… the gap has gotten worse for a number of specs.

The gap has widened to 12. Yikes. Big yikes.

I actually went to cancel my sub just now and discovered I had bought a 6-month sub in July for that serpent mount, so it looks like unfortunately in the short-term I can’t cancel in disgust.

Guess I’ll play it out and see what happens and if S1 is :peach: I’ll just let my sub lapse and go do something else until S3 or S4 of DF.

Raz drops a bow at 430, Diurna drops a ring at 430. The rest at least is still only 424.

Not that I condone it, but it’s not terribly egregious with those outliers.

I’m seeing higher key level for worse rewards that are still tied to the vault of disappointment. I hate it. This is coupled with an affix that sounds awful. Like I don’t get it, people complain about m+ loot being infinitely grind able but the only m+ loot that will be at high end levels will be from the rng vault while mythic raiders will get more options for better loot on a weekly basis.

And the dungeon loot will cap out at early heroic boss level which is to say an 18 is of the same value as a heroic taragrue kill which I hard doubt.

Also how will crafting work into this since supposedly crafted gear will be going to mythic ilvl?

If they don’t add another layer of M+ rewards, yes.

One would hope they would do the exact same thing they have going on with these and have 21’s or heck idc 24’s vault at 424 at least and let it be two special items only.

This is actually the real worst part of this whole thing. I’ll be honest… if the game is fun, I’ll probably play it. S4 rewards aren’t great compared to raid, but the Shrouded affix is actually a lot of fun. The Dreadlords add some spice and Zulgy can be an interesting opponent when combined into another pull, the Dreadlords replacing certain mobs changed the way certain pulls were approached (typically less casters, but also in some cases increasing force counts), and lastly the buffs we got really let you pop off and really made it a blast to play certain characters.

Meanwhile, this new affix sounds like a worse Quaking. Nobody really likes Quaking, people tolerate Quaking but it isn’t fun or interesting, and having Quaking but with a stun as a replacement for Urh relics or Dreadlord buffs is LAUGHABLE. Absolutely LAUGHABLE

Ion has completely lost all contact with reality if he thinks this affix sounds fun. This dungeon pool is awful compared to anything we had in SL, the seasonal affix is an anti-fun joke, and then of course tying back into this thread we’re going through all of this unrewarding nonsense with no real pay-offs.

The only positives I have to say for this expansion at all are that I like Azure Vault and I think the KSM mount looks cool. Otherwise this is one of the worst conceivable launches ever.
