How dare you call me out for that which I’m not smart enough nor savvy enough to respond eloquently to
If we assume a timed key and that every class knows and can execute the mechanics and bringing their utility to bear, it’s a DPS check. You have X amount of damage that needs to be done in Y amount of time.
Although, in this expansion M+ does seem more survival capped then previous expansions.
Torghast has a staying alive check.
There’s an episode of The Office where he writes that quote on a whiteboard:
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.
-Wayne Gretsky
-Michael Scott
Like he’s giving himself credit for quoting the quote lol.
It’s really not until you climb pretty high. A group that doesn’t wipe will time a 19. It might be close and I’ve been in some that were timed with less than a minute left, but it’s rare to see a key that gets missed solely because of the dps.
No; it’s a list of top performances that were logged. Not everything is logged.
Take the worlds #1 Outlaw and the worlds #1 Survival hunter and put them in a group together.
Outlaw will not be doubling the Hunters damage. Again, data is incomplete. It can be used as a guideline but you’re taking it as if it’s absolute.
I wonder what % of high keys are actually logged. I’m running 19s and don’t log and most of my runs on warcraftlogs don’t have a party member who logged it either.
You are right that the data is far from complete.
Right? And I haven’t been logging my runs where I’ve been 205-210 and maintaining 5-5.5k and out damaging meta classes
Not discrediting the data that’s there, but definitely not taking it as the final product.
I see non meta dps out damaging boomies and fire mages all the time. It’s definitely not as severe as people make it out to be. Warriors are frequently at the top even with capped aoe.
Fire gets better as the key level goes up. I’m regularly outdps’d in 15’s.
My point was more about player skill mattering more than just the class and spec.
I’ve noticed fury warriors seem to pump hard damage all the time.
So if you are doing single steady pulls (most pugs and groups) they are amazing.
When tanks are doing double pulls around big dps cooldowns it’s different.
In most places even double pulls will be under the aoe cap.
Monks also pump hard, ive frequently seen them pump 8.5k and up.
I got absolutely smashed by a monk in a DoS one time. And that was post-nerf or bug fix or whatever they called it. Clearly he was cheating
Yeah sometimes I accidentally do high damage in a key or two.
Really don’t have any WW complaints.
Monks have some serious potential. I like seeing them in my groups, but then I also feel threatened which makes me pump harder lol.
Definitely cheaters though
Who cares about the imbalance between dps.
We need to address the imbalance between healers which is worse.
Isn’t that mostly a DPS imbalance as well?
Yes. Healer dps.
Actually, scratch that. Because there are too many shamans as well and they dont do great dps.
How.

If your group is close on time 1000 extra DPS for the run is going to make or break you.
There’s a similar issue with tank DPS well. High DPS tank and healer combined is like an extra DPS.
A 15 probably isn’t the best place to look since it’s not as much of an issue there but feel free to explore the data
