Being argumentative? Sure, I can admit to that, but I’m also just stating a fact. If I’m the twink and my dps meter doesn’t go over 500 dps at any time. There is no way I can do 5 mil dps, no? The whole dungeon doesn’t even add up to 5 mil for me. = P
Okay, so from the Twink’s point of view they’re doing 300 DPS and the geared 80 is doing 5 DPS.
But, to compare with numbers we’re all more familiar with, from the viewpoint of a level 80 character, the Twink is doing over 5 million DPS. And that alone is how I know that a geared 80 cannot beat a Twink. A geared 80 can do like 2.5 million DPS of they’re popping Spymasters Web on the boss. But the Twink chain casting Smite is double that.
A geared level 80 CANNOT beat a Twink that’s got gear from the Timewalking dungeons, not including stuff like gems and enchantments.
And, frankly, that’s bad scaling. They should be doing about the same as an 80 that’s geared with equivalent gear, but probably less because they don’t have access to abilities that will boost their damage.
Everybody realizes the scaling is off. Not sure why you’re trying to deny it.
And the reason why that’s important is that new players will feel weaker as they level, not stronger like it should be. Level 74 in particular has been a real punch in the gutt when leveling. It doesn’t feel good to get weaker as you level up.
You’re just being an Obi-Wan. “From a certain point of view”.
I twink, I know what you say, but i’m being realistic here.
If i walk into dungeon on my lvl 10 twink and I see a boss with 500 health… if I kill him before anyone else touches him, I did what… 500 damage, right?
Because how things scale, to any lvl 80 in that same dungeon, they see the exact same boss, but he has 5-million health. He sees my lvl 10 twink kill him in a few seconds, and his damage meter reads… “twink did 5-million damage”… because that’s what the lvl 80 sees.
From a certain point of view.
(Just being a contrarian) The Twink is unable to do that much is all I’m sayin, as the Twink. I’ve been the 80 in the group too. I laugh, loot, try n keep up, blow a cd when I can n thank him at the end if he’s sticks around long enough. The “certain point of view,” is correct, but the truth is, no matter who’s pov, the twink is doing 90-95% of the damage in the group, that’s just are scaling issue.
Twinks aren’t new players. They are alts of existing accounts, players who are so bored with end game that they need a break for a while to do something that doesn’t feel pointless.
Yes, but you see, twinking was sort of an unintended side-effect that was not vital for the health of the game.
You can do it on free accounts.
You need zero knowledge, and any you think you need (location of the dude who stops xp gains) is one click away.
Anyone and everyone can do this.
Ok the context:
Since the patch was dead for my guild, last week I started to gear up a twink, farmed the enchant in scholomance, and started to run solo tbc dungeons for gear with sockets, for stat gems. Yesterday after the weekly reset run the 5 dungeon for the weekly box ( ilvl 30 purple from the quest ) and got banned when I was questing for reputation in mechagon. The toon wich show the Profile another lvl 11 f2p. I was having fun, not running 24/7 TW or running boosting enterprise.
So the scaling is weird for low levels. Why would I care they do more dmg than me? I am just trying to get my badges or do a quest bro.
Yes, its absurd if you have a damage meter… the level 11 does 300dps in his damage meter, but if a 80 is around he will see 8M dps 4m overall
I love healing those. Slow pulls I rarely heal in them. Bigger or faster pulls I may have to heal.
sounds kind of boring.
This isn’t pointing fingers but honestly asking a question to find out… people doing 24/7TW boosting and using the drop group macro weren’t the victims of the banning… it was people doing non-standard things… not the norm.
Were you using two accounts at once and/or perhaps using 3rd party software… even if running in the background?
Once again, this is neither finger pointing, nor trying to say “you were exploiting”… the thing is, I do know if Blizzard thinks someone is botting or using 3rd party software to automate gameplay, or running multiple accounts at once, they are far more likely to take action, then just one guy spamming Timewalking.
This is why I ask… i know TONS of twinks that were using drop group macros and spamming dungeons, they weren’t banned… you had to be doing somthing different that Blizzard picked up (rightly or wrongly) as something against ToS.
I get it don’t worry, I was playing alone again just for fun, no macro for leave group or whatever, since the account banned was my main account, I have a few years playing so I really didn’t need stay spamming TW for badges.
Something changed in the guardian bot on “this” weekly reset and my account was sent to oblivion.
Once again…if you demand groups skip bosses or mobs in ANY dungeon or raid to get through it faster…you CANNOT complain about twinks. You have zero argument and you embarrass yourself by doing so.
was thinking i might make one lol,
Should it be grouped when it might create potential deadzones for leveling groups?
Dude. It’s Timewalking. People are having FUN with the 11 twinks. Let people like things, for the love of goodness.
It isn’t hurting anyone, and it’s making a LOT of players happy.
Why are you trying to stamp out the fun you detected? It needs repeating: LET PEOPLE LIKE THINGS.
I could not possibly care less who is on top of a damage meter or who runs to the end the fastest in a TW dungeon. I care about getting my 5-stack done so I can get a heroic piece for an alt, and I care about getting the currency to buy cool cosmetic stuff. That is all.
If you want to go into a dungeon tuned for level 80’s and only level 80’s…we have those.
funniest thing i saw all day, lol.
This isnt remotely close to actual truth.
Please add me and I will show you even a “starter” healer twink can out dps the best of the best geared level 80.
I can go on my level 10 priest of my level 10 monk (2 of my lowest dps characters). And if you want to get really spicy, i can go on level 11 warrior or level 11 shammy (my shammy is probably my best twink - it’s a healer but its crazy ungodly amazing dps)
I didnt think f2p players were allowed to “xp lock”, i thought that was disabled?
Akar, I voiced an opinion because it looks weird to me. I’ve explained why it looks weird.
You continuing with this line of questioning is absurd. Blizz designed it this way. Apparently people like it. To each his own.
I can still think it’s weird and wish scaling wasn’t done with a 70 level difference. Why? Because I think it looks weird.
You want me to justify something to you that I know will never happen. Also, I really don’t care if it does happen. Why? Because I have twinks too.
