Is there any talk about merging servers? Ashkandi is pretty dead. But I would rather not lose my character guild and everything.
There was a merge prior to cata being released as they were shutting down low pop servers. Ashkandi was one of the low pop servers, almost everyone transferred off that is why you aren’t seeing anyone. At the time there was free character transfers to select servers based on if you were on a pve or pvp server. Majority of the horde went to Mankrik. I don’t know if the free server transfer is available at this point since it was over a year ago it was offered.

They were supposed to do merges in cata and we didnt see much of it so free transfers seems to be the solution theyve given to people and are still active. Not the best if you want to transfer guilds or a massive amount of gold but at least it’s free.

because they haven’t shut them down as they are waiting for everyone to move alts and mains to other servers still. Otherwise they will have to do forced migration which will make people unhappy if they get transferred to a server they don’t want to be on. If you noticed Ashkandi is locked and no new characters can be made. It was locked around the time the announcement was made about the free server transfers and if you scroll through the other servers listed you will see others in a similar fashion that are locked as well. The NA has about 5-6 servers left that characters can be made on and the rest are locked. Eventually, blizzard will force the issue, but it’s probably a low priority for them at this point.
The free transfers removed the gold cap since it was blizzard forcing this situation. The only tricky part was moving all the stuff in the guild bank, but thankfully we had enough people with alts that moving stuff was easy.

Maybe? There was a blue post about this and that they were locking the servers so they could eventually shut down the select servers. I found the post about the whole thing.
You can transfer free
If you have alts, I would say make as many as you can, get the biggest bags possible on those alts and get them loaded up and get transferred. Looks like your alliance, i think what alliance that was on Ashkandi went to pagle maybe? Mankrik is starting to get an alliance population slowly, so it’s another option.
Lol there is nothing on the AH so i cant get bags without a tailor or just finding the highest vendor.

No I get it, it’s time, effort and gold. Maybe focus on getting an alt tailoring and getting bags made as quickly as possible? Even the wrath ones if all the alts had them plus in their personal banks, you can try to load up as much as you can to do the transfer without losing too much?
In a similar situation though I am on Windseeker. Honestly, I enjoy it here and being on a locked server hasn’t prevented me from accomplishing what I enjoy doing. My only real concern with having to transfer off is that I am very attached to my character names. I am personally not a fan of using special characters so if a prospective server doesn’t have all of the character names I use available, I tend to move onto the next until I find a realm that does. Problem is that there are very few Classic realms when compared to retail.
Also, having to start your guild over from scratch? Might not be such a big deal depending but having to spend the gold to open up all of the guild bank tabs and other associated “administrative” costs can add up. It’d be great if Blizzard offered some sort of solution for this, perhaps being able to transfer your guild in its entirety? Not holding my breath but it’s an idea.
I already went ahead and did it created alts and put all my banks stuff on them and transfered to pagle.
Luckily i only bought 2 tabs so didnt put much into it. I had to put an “x” behind my name
People dont want server merges aside from folks on dumpster servers. No thanks.
Do whatever you want with servers, just as long as I’m still on an RP PvE server by the end of it
