Low honor is making people quit

Population may be similar, but horde overwhelmingly favors pvp over the average alliance. So even though the population may be close, a lot less alliance are queuing.

bumping until blue reply

I’ve basically hit this point as well. I’ve spent over a dozen hours this week reading through past BC patch notes, old blue posts by devs on forums about honor, and watching youtube videos from 12+ years ago to try to pin down what the actual “correct” honor rates are. Turns out honor was iterated on a bunch of different times in different patches throughout TBC, and who is to say what is the actual correct rate when we’ve been given a frankenpatch version of the game for Classic.

I’m more than happy to admit my memory isn’t perfect and I’d be fine to concede if my memory was off by a given amount regarding this honor grind, but there is no way in hell I would have come anywhere close to grinding out a full set of this gear every season back when I was a high schooler with very limited free time, yet I was able to do it every season and on multiple characters.

Just looking at how many times honor has been iterated on already in hotfixes in the past 4 weeks I don’t know how anyone could look at the honor rates and be confident they are correct, let alone good for the game. I almost always ere on the side of “lets spend dozens or even hundreds of hours doing research to make sure we get it exact to how it was back in the day” but it seems like the waters are so muddied with so much different information from different patches of the game, and I really don’t think Blizzard has the actual correct informatoin, that I think Blizzard just needs to put that aside and look at it objectively and adjust honor rates to make it better for everyone in the game.

They could literally permanently boost honor gains by x5 from both honorable kills and bonus honor from battlegrounds and we’d still be looking at twice as long of a grind if not more for an entry level set of gear into PvP than PvE. It’s that bad.

Really? You’re going to bump a post where somebody posted like 5 minutes before you.
Not to mention, you really think a blue is going to post in this one over the 300 other related threads? lmao.

According to ironforge_pro the Oceanic servers have more Horde players logging thru WCL than Alliance, just like every other region.

More Horde players, and overweight side with more pvp’ers, leads to the same queue problem that every other region has.

Horde being the more popular faction is interfering, especially among the players that consider themselves top-tier
whether it be pvp or pve.

try 250 hours a piece of gear.

Just use PvE or crafted gear for S1 and bank your honor to buy the purple gear when S2 arrives

It was changed, for retail. Go play that.

All you need to know about the system is that you will get a better set of pvp gear, and in less time overall by doing arenas and ignoring bgs entirely (that’s time /played AND days /weeks irl, despite the fact that arena gear is capped to a resource only generated weekly)

The “entry” level gear is harder to get than the gear its supposed to be a stepping stone to.

Literally no other argument is needed to point out how asinine this system currently is.

Just play you will get honor eventually

I agree the honor is too low even for alliance. Double the honor gain for everyone.

Yup this exactly.

Even double isn’t enough. Should be more like 4-5x.

What’s even more absurd is you’ve got these PvE players who don’t even PvP trying to gatekeep PvPers even accessing entry level gear. While dungeons/heroics/kara just shower them with loot. Literally all I want is ENTRY level PvP gear to be an even remotely feasible grind.

I’m inclined to agree with the 2nd guy. You could actually increase honor gain from both BG objectives/bonus honor AND honorable kills by x5, and you’d still be looking at a 1.5x to 2x longer grind for your starter set for PvP than your starter set for PvE that you’d obtain from dungeons, heroics, and craftable gear. The current rates are that bad.

Some of the pvp set bonus are pretty essential to the arena meta for the spec too
Ret largely creates kill opportunities off of hoj, and the 4pc pretty dramatically lowers the cd of it, for example. It’s the difference between 3 cc rotation /kill attempts per pvp trinket and just 2
which is huge.

Bumping this thread

ADD the rep vendor pvp gear please

The hours required to get pvp gear is just retarded right now.

Back in the day, I would farm honor for resto & balance sets & then go grind more honor on alts. It was quicker & it was more rewarding.

Today, less than 1 week after being 70, I have no more motivation to grind. It will years to get the full honor gear at this rate

FYI, you can get 3 epics in 1 night of kara lol

I will unsub. Thanks blizz.

This is a nice idea, but ultimately a band-aid solution. While it would slightly alleviate the phase 1 grind, this grind is going to exist in every phase and will always be a huge problem if they don’t fix the honor rates which is the core of the problem.
