Reaching out because I’m at my wits end here. I encountered a bug in the alchemy profession that made it to where I couldn’t gain any points no matter the recipe I did. So I tried resetting the profession and it fixed the issue but wiped over a decade of progress and history. I opened a ticket and blizzard said they fixed the bug but won’t roll my character back to fix me missing my progress. I kept asking and they told me to pound sand it wasn’t their problem. Is there anything I can do or am I screwed?
Sorry to say but, when you unlearn a prof, you get a warning that doing such will wipe all the recipes and it can’t be undone. The GMs are unable to restore something the player did in this case.

Even if it was bug related? They’ve rolled back accounts for a lot less
It isn’t bug related, frankly. And no, they don’t do such because this isn’t a one player game with different save states, ‘just in case’ something happens.

It does not matter why you dropped the profession, the results are the same. They don’t do account rollbacks in WoW, except in super rare instances of massive server problems. The way WoW saves data that is not a thing. The only snapshots for a rollback I know of are when you do a character service like a transfer. That takes a snapshot of your account that they can roll back to if the char service goes wrong.
Your decision to drop a profession has consequences that can’t be undone.

As others mentioned, it wasn’t a bug. You unlearned it manually and had to fill in a text field to do so.

The profession BEFORE me dropping it was bugged and the GMs even confirmed it and that they patched it.
The point remains: You willingly unlearn the prof, the bug didn’t unlearn itself. If a player undo something like this, they have a warning that this kind thing is unrecoverable. Once something like this, an action with a warning and is followed through with it, then the GMs are unable to help in this event.

I’m sorry, Thorrell, but even if this was a situation in which we could assist, there isn’t a “roll back” feature for World of Warcraft.
If you purposefully unlearned your profession, there isn’t really anything we can do, sorry. Many of the more recent expansions tend to have books you can pick up to relearn some of the recipes you may have previously received. Otherwise, they will need to be regained.
