Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones?

Lord of the Thrones

3 episodes is as far as I got too. I honestly had no idea what the characters were named because their names are all too similar.

Skip both and watch The Wire.

So, Rings of Power vs The House of the Dragon, or the original Game of Thrones series?
Neither question is going to be in favor of Rings of Power, but I like to know.

It’s different strokes for different folks.

I like HotD but you really need to be interested in politics and understand that things will take longer. So it can feel slow and boring in some parts. The writing is vastly superior, and the cinematography is complex. Lot’s of foreshadowing and shots that convey the storyline and emotions of the characters. Although sometimes I feel like that they beat you over the head with the symbolism.

That said, Dance of the Dragons is an insane event. It can easily fill up multiple seasons.

RoP is something else. Lots of bad dialogue, and uneven pacing. The finale is one of the strangest one’s I’ve seen. Also, based on how much of a Tolkien fan you are, it can feel like a disrespect to the source material. But I’d say it has more typical and easier to understand fantasy elements. You know who are your good guys and bad guys. It’s more flashier as well, and the cinematography is easy to understand. So that has some appeal. Like I said earlier, it’s the perfect fantasy show to just relax and enjoy the spectacle.

See, I read the books and the show is plain terrible.

The dance is a very simple story that does not deserve a series. The GoTs books have so many layers that made is a great story.

RoP is an ok show.

It could be worse, it could be the 200 pages Tolkien devoted to trees that say nothing for 200 pages.

Don’t watch either. Go watch the Kung Fu Panda trilogy instead.

The new game of thrones and the Rings of Power? I have not seen the prequal Game of Thrones. The Rings of Power right now is a mixed bag, some of it is really cool and the music is great. I like it when they reference the lore, and some of it they go way off in a strange direction.

You can make a marathon…
The Hobbit 1,2,3 extended DVD after that the Lord of the Rings1,2,3 extended DVD

After that Game of Thrones.

The Rings of Power it’s not worth watching. Not a single episode. I did this to me because I love Lotr and Tolkien . Rings of Power it’s like something with huge budget - no acting , Tyrande and Malfurion dialogues from Legion and not a meaningful battle at all.

That’s why it’s different strokes for different folks. I really like it. I’m currently on Episode 7 and the depth they go to narrate and convey the characters emotions is amazing to me. Even with the current child characters and how the building animosity is passing over to them. I find myself switching back and forth between who I sympathize with because they are all playing such an ugly game.

Lord of the Rings :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

Stay away from Rings of Power if you are any sort of Tolkien fan. It is complete horsecrap as far as the writing goes. They have gone with the fanfic “alternate timeline” ghostbusters 2016 route and tossed out the lore.

Much like shadowlands.

If you are into generic fantasy with no substance and all visual flash, they have at it.

Rings of Power was great. I think I like it a bit more than Game of Thrones. It had a great season finale.

Someone probably already said this but it’s Rings of Power.
Lord of the Rings is the masterpiece by J.R.R. Tolkien so… the pop culture rendition would be the movies. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have that in my queue

House of the Dragon. No question about it.

If you mean Game of Thrones, it’s brilliant until season 5, then starts dropping in quality, until it reaches flaming hot pile of garbage level of bad in season 8.

Rings of Power if you value visuals over a good script. As someone said before, it’s a “turn your brain off” kind of entertainment. Writing is either bad or mediocre at best.

But if we’re talking about the movies, LOTR is a cinematic masterpiece no trilogy comes close to.

Game of Thrones was great until Season 5, good until Season 7 and then the end was like the writers tripping on their shoelaces and falling face first into some cow :poop:

I lean lotr over got

I like them both but lotr is better fantasy than got imo
