I started to watch both and I enjoyed the LOTR show way more. It starts out kinda slow, but believe me, after seeing the season finale that came out recently, the slow build up pays off and was worth it.
If youāre talking about LOTR the series, hard pass. The movies, however, definitely watch. Then watch GoT.

I just finished the Lotr Amazon show.
Itās honestly a prologue. Itās good, but it just felt like they were setting the stage.
House of dragons on the other hand. Fantastic.
Game of Thrones.
LOTR is boring. Itās an off brand soap opera in a fantasy setting.
So is GOT in a way, but the story, violence and mature content is leaps and bounds more enjoyable.
LOTR is like Final Fantasy Main Story quest. Itās cutesy and light hearted. Something you can watch with the kids.
GOT is closer to Warcraft Lore. It even has itās own Lich King if sorts. People you grow fond of get horrifically murdered, often. Itās way better.

Tbh I donāt feel very negative about it cause watching it made me discover a bunch of cool LOTR lore youtubers that Iāve been bingewatcing recently. I recommend In Deep Geek and Nerd Of The Rings

Iām watching both but watching Rings of Power first. Have a few more episodes to go.
Iāve only watched 10 minutes of Rings of Power then went to watch something else instead.

Theyāve been greenlit for 5 seasons, so I imagine that played into the pacing.
Iāve been fine with it.

GOT stopped being good once the show had to fill in the blanks unwritten and did it poorly (smart characters became stupid and shocking moments weāre done just to shock and not respecting character development)

Rings of power was ok. It got better towards the end. After one season of Game of Thrones I was done. So boring.

Thatās not why itās woke garbage but it is silly and obvious casting.
Middle Earth has an entire country of dark skinned people they could have written amazing stories about instead of hamfisting in black elves and dwarves and break the sense of immersion.

I never even noticed this supposed āhamfistingā, not even once. I just watched the show and enjoyed the characters themselves.
Yeah for real, I love it too, but itās definitely really slow. Hereās hoping season 2 goes a little faster now that theyāve picked things up a bit.
good for you, hope it lasts long enough that some actors get better roles in the future and their careers not killed
HoD is terrible.
I played with my phone for 3 episodes before I gave up.
