Loot Scarcity

Ilvl is important to progression, but it shouldnt be that huge of a gap for progression.

I think they clearly took parts of classic and implemented them into retail like loot, but with all the systems they had in place and the new systems they came out with it didnt work.

someone having a weapon 7 to 26 ILVLs+ more than you has a far more greater ability to gib someone with how the burst is in this game currently. Small or medium stat increases would be okay but major gaps between gear is annoying and not fun for me. Im sure some others will agree and M+ who push high content will not but thats the way this game has been for a while now.

People demanding more loot can’t even specify what that means, so how can there be a middle ground?

Current PVE loot amounts based on drop statistics

Raid only: 10 items per month/2.5 per week
M+ only: 20 items per month/5 per week
Raid + M+: 26 items per month/6.5 per week

Plus additional loot from TW weekly, Mythic Weekly, and World Bosses

How much loot are you asking for?

P.s. M+ loot number is based off 10 dungeons/raid off of 10 bosses

It used to be the case that in a 25 man raid you got like, 5 pieces of gear. Now you’re lucky to get 3. It’s insanity, and I’ll never understand these creepy Blizzard sycophants who will defend every action they take while parroting what they said as though it was some new incredible piece of knowledge handed down to humans from a higher intelligence.

Seeing people vanish from the game every single day. Meeting new players only to see THEM vanish from the game and all quitting… yes I think something is up and the majority of the player base does not like this. I’m basing my assumption on that and my experience as a designer myself. I just don’t see this design philosophy blending with the rest of the games core systems, which will turn players off… period.

I don’t think it’s necessarily getting attacked, just people repeating the same responses over and over to the same complaints.

The game difficulty is tuned for the way the loot drops and it’s not like players were blindsided by the amount of loot Blizz decided for this expansion. Shadowlands clearly outlined the changes and how much fewer loot there would be before it was live.

It’s not like other players have an advantage either. Everyone has the same chance at finding an item. The Legion and BFA systems were way to easy.

On top of that I remember in TBC tanking kara in blues, SSC in a couple of epics and some bosses in BT with a few more scrap pieces the guild gave me as a bear tank.

That was 3 raid tiers and i was almost a full raid tier behind and was able to do my job. Wasnt the main tank on all fights but I lived and contributed to the guild who had geared members and didnt feel useless.

I hope they stick with this. way better then the way it was.

that’s fine tho
your gear works for the content you intent to play

but community gate + dps checks exist and being behind just because of bad rng isnt fun while my friends sit at 210-215 im stuck at 201 we run the same raid we do m+ together we pvp together yet im straight up getting gear checked in higher content despite all of grouping together

Could you elaborate as to why you feel that way? Any specifics?

Gear feels more rewarding when I do get a piece instead of just another vendor trash item.

Per Ian

“At this point, our plan for Shadowlands is to take a step back and actually—and this may sound like a nerf to some folks—reduce the amount of loot that drops. We have tons more sources than ever before. Just let loot be loot. We’re not planning Warforging, we’re not planning Titanforging. There’s no Corruption, there’s no system to replace Corruption. We’ll see how that plays out,” said Hazzikostas."

Thats assuming each person gets loot and just doesn’t work. You might go a whole raid with no armor of a specific type dropping so its not like you can trade it away. While I get rng is a thing at some point people need to stop trying to defend blizz all the time and just admit that there are problems with there game. I love wow but im not above pointing out things I think are wrong.

I’m pretty sure you’re wrong.

Why does it feel rewarding? Because it’s rare?

If that’s the case, did you enjoy the Warforging / Titanforging system? Similar design concept / philosophy.

Because I don’t have to throw almost every piece away because it didn’t roll the right stats.

No it was one of the worst experiences I had with an MMO regarding loot. if you didn’t get a good titan/warforge the item was trash. lets not even start with corruption.

Thats also taking account the loot box, which means you will 100% see a piece of loot per week.

I can see that, if it worked that way for everyone but RNG will always leave some folks behind. After 5 or 6 m+ and you finally get a piece, it does feels good, then the realization comes that you need to to 5 or 6 more to get the next one and it disappears…lol, add that the piece you get may not be an upgrade, then it feels worse.

Bottom line, seems its join a guild and raid or die this expac, which is fine if that’s the new model, just have to accept that a lot of people aren’t into that.

But you do have to throw away a piece that drops if it’s your legendary slot or not an upgrade?

To the second point, it’s the same principle of RNG. If you don’t get good RNG you get nothing now. Just to clarify, I also disliked corruptions and all that BS haha… I don’t think anyone wants those systems back.

Yeah sure its a piece of guaranteed loot but thats a terrible mindset. I dont feel better just because I have piece of loot from the vault it just makes me more frustrated. I want to get loot while im doing the content, not wait a week and get it handed to me by a box.
