Looks Like the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur might Be Unobtainable In 9.0.1 (Part 1)

I’m glad to see Blizzard is being proactive in pissing away any customer goodwill they had earned back at Blizzcon.

That doesn’t matter because the information was conveyed to us. There’s a difference.

In that situation, those people did not receive the information. But it was out there. That’s on them.

In this situation, we would have never even found out about this if the OP had not made this thread. This would have gone completely unknown if he hadn’t brought the WoWhead article here and then the Blue came in and confirmed it all casually. That’s terrifying because time sensitive content is involved.

It’s unfortunate that people who weren’t active didn’t get to do the mage tower, but had they paid attention or did the slightest bit of digging, they would have learned about it quite easily. Hell, as I mentioned earlier, these forums were both on fire with anger, and singing the praise of the mage tower throughout most of the second half of Legion. Multiple posts both from blues and regular people went up discussing it.

My favorite part is that he didn’t even bother to give a reason why. “Yeah this controversial change is happening for seemingly no reason, lol” It’s up to the community to assume the worst when they can’t even manage to make up a more benign reason.

Uhhh…no?
WoW didn’t go reaching out to prior customers stating “Hey we have this new expansion and we have this time limited event that we’re going to remove.”.
Trying to hold individuals responsible for information that they were unaware is just attempting to set responsibility upon an individual who has no means to accept responsibility.

I am sure it probably would have been announced with 8.3, and this happened to get datamined earlier.
While I do agree it would have been more appropriate if they had done the announcement with BFA, its just another case of content getting cut out arbitrarily.

Getting upset about this is stupid. People who were going to buy the mount in the first place already have it. People who are mad about it right now unlikely have the gold or anywhere near the amount of gold to afford it, so it’s completely arbitrary to get upset over something you weren’t going to get anyway.

It’s like getting upset that Call of Duty has weapons locked behind loot boxes, yet you don’t even play the game in the first place.

Why are they removing it?

Same reaso they time limited Challenge item in MoP, Mge tower skins, CM WoD skins etc etc.

Because they can. :man_shrugging:

Because they’re applying the strategy of “The fear of missing out” on a gold sink mount to drive token sales. It’s a scummy business move

People working towards it thinking they had plenty of time and wouldn’t lose it by spending their gold on something else, aren’t going to get it not because they “weren’t going to get anyway” but because if they’d known it was a limited time, they would have been able to get it. Arbitrary is deciding to remove only the most recent goldsink mount, not tell anyone, and only be forced to confirm it when their pants are pulled down. Read all the posts where people are crunching numbers to see if they have a chance to get the mount, now that they abruptly have a looming deadline that wasn’t there before.

Such an utterly stupid decision. And here I was thinking that Blizz had finally turned the corner. Now they pulls this on us. WTF?

the whole thing reeks of Activision despite the claims of Blizzard having autonomy

All companies are greedy. Blizzard is no exception

And all customers like to have their money and time respected. We’re no exception.

It’s not their job to individually email people. The information was readily available to anyone who had bothered to read the forums, or the website. That’s good enough.

I disagree entirely. If I care about the game, I will look into it when I know a new patch is coming (which was very obvious on Legion’s patch cycle) and I will then look into what’s coming. Developer live streams, youtube videos, these forums, the launcher, there was so much out there that was available that if anyone did the slightest bit of digging? They’d find information.

That’s still irrelevant. We should have been told immediately. This reeks of FOMO. And as I’ve said before, I’m someone who often outright dismisses FOMO. But this certainly feels like it because people who had been working toward it, are now going to either give up and quit and feel disheartened, or dump money on WOW tokens for the sake of trying to make the gold. And that’s really crappy, considering no other vendor mount has ever been time sensitive before. No other gold sink mount has been time sensitive. There’s no rhyme or reason to this.

Everytime I try to give Blizz a high five I miss. Then realize its because of how out of touch they are.

As one of the top 2 or 3 gold makers on my small server this is ridiculous. This is asinine. This is a joke. And not even a good one.

Blizzard staff meeting regarding the recent plan to remove it

People would really buy umm… over 25 WoW tokens… over 500 dollars worth… for a mount? Must be nice having so much disposable income to actually view this as a problem.

You’d be surprised. I know people who have dumped over 200 dollars just for the RaF rewards by recruiting themselves four times.

500 bucks for a time sensitive mount isn’t as outlandish for some out there.

I find it highly concerning that this is the first time a vendor mount is being made into a rare commodity and moved to the BMAH.

Even most rare drop mounts still are available from their original source. Only a few items whose entire sources were removed are only available on the BMAH. And the vendors for the Brutosaur are not vanishing or being removed, since they still sell the other items. Just the Brutosaur is being moved.

Even more so that this is also the first time a mount/item with an appreciable gameplay affect or quality of life upgrade, such as a mobile Auction House, has been placed on the BMAH behind RNG. The other BMAH items are cosmetic or prestige, or toys and TCG items that don’t actually affect gameplay in the way that a mobile AH does.

I hope this doesn’t become a trend, but I fear it will.

It should be outlandish. Anyone who is actually willing to do something so silly only has themselves to blame IMO.
