I consider working for four years toward something as “persevering”. I wasn’t “giving up” in any way (and still haven’t). You are being considerably snotty toward players who just want a chance to persevere.
Blizzard never once said they wanted this mount to be “prestigious”. Their ONLY stated reason is that they don’t want to see AUCTION MOUNTS everywhere, not that they don’t want to see Brutosaurs. So I (and others) have been asking that they give us another, non-AH Brutosaur to work toward.
If this does set a trend of removing more and more things, it will encourage me to remove myself from the game as well. Pretty sure many players feel the same way. That really isn’t something Blizzard should be aiming for.
I’m trying to figure out what participation trophies have to do with the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur. The mount costs five million gold. No one is being given it just for participating. If they don’t remove it from the vendor, it would still cost five million gold. Players who want it would still have to pay Five. Million. Gold.
A participation trophy is something people get simply by participating in an activity. The Brutosaur must be purchased. You don’t get it simply by logging in. Even if it only cost five hundred gold instead of five million, it would still have to be purchased. This whole argument about participation trophies is idiotic.
This is a gross move… really shows how greedy POS blizz really is. If 5mil was easy to come by maybe but you guys con’t to strip more and more way to generate gold.
You underestimate what people will spend money on. I used to play f2p, p2w games where people would spend 10k-20k, maybe even more, per character to be in the strongest 20% of characters.
At the current token price you would need 30 tokens which, at $20 each, would cost $600.
Sadly, there are people who are so addicted to games they think pixels are worth that, and will pay to make sure they don’t miss out.
It’s just like gambling or spending all your money on drink, smokes or worse. Just because you can’t imagine being that stupid doesn’t stop it being common enough to be a real problem.
I think this needs heavily restated. Heavily. I have no clue what percentage of players use the forums, but the wording used in the patch notes can very, very easily be interpreted as simply meaning you get a feat of strength for buying the mount when it was current.
It is now getting beyond absurd at this point. This thread is approaching 5,000 posts. We have an official statement here saying it won’t be available for direct purchase from a vendor once Shadowlands comes around. Official patch notes only mentions the feat of strength. This is not some kind of programming, mechanical, or other issue that requires testing. This is purely a policy decision that just requires some guys to get in a room and agree on a direction to communicate it.
I very rarely get overly critical of things when it comes to WoW because I love this game so much and have a lot of fun with it, but I can’t make heads or tails of this. I hope you realize that you’ve made this issue magnify into something far greater than just the mount. You’ve turned this into a whole other level of problem with the absolute poor communication and mismanagement of information around it. It is 100% anecdotal, but when you have relatively content customers like myself getting tired of it, it is a good sign that you are messing this up.
