Login Server Problems?

Been trying to log in for about 30 minutes. Everytime I try, I get a “login servers full” message with a queue time of 2 minutes and my place in line as somewhere between 3 and 5 people. The second I hit top of queue, I get DC’d back to the main login screen with all of my account information cleared and a “reconnect” button that doesnt work.

@BlizzardCS is showing a issue being investigated, and there is a message on the login as well.

I fire up game, it goes to connecting, then dcs. I try again, it goes to connecting, then says log in servers are full, 1 min wait time (that’s fine) and then dcs. Then back to the first one again. I’m currently on attempt 6 and it just repeats this pattern. Nothing has changed since I last logged on last night btw.

Pls move to whichever sub if this is the wrong one.

From the launcher:

We are aware of an issue that is affecting our authentication servers, which may result in slow or failed login attempts. We are currently investigating the cause and will provide updates as they are available.

They are aware of it. I did post in the Website Bug Forum about their Blizz articles (like reading up on the CoC, Naming Policies, PvP Server Rules, etc.) malfunctioning, too, so they don’t miss that, either, but it could all be linked to the same culprit LOL

It wasn’t there when I posted which is why I posted lol I just closed my launcher and now it’s there though.

Thanks, all. This is being looked into. It appears to be impacting most of our games in North America. Breaking News is posted in the Desktop app.

I know previously this week we have seen a few DDOS, I don’t know if that is what this is. I’ll try to provide updates as I see them.

Way back in the day, Bliz used to credit free days to players when extended maintenance or service interruptions prevented game play for an arbitrary number of hours per month. Is that still a thing? I haven’t heard any mention of it.

Same. So frustrating!

We haven’t had any long or extreme unscheduled down-times in recent history. But yes, they did provide a day of game time in recent memory. But generally speaking, it usually happens if upwards of 24 hours of downtime happens. But it’s not granted until after issues are resolved.

Sometimes this doesn’t matter, it could line up with the time people are trying to play every time. Then it could become a thing where it happens multiple times a week, and it cuts out half the time the person gets to play in a given week.

DDOS attacks in their nature are nearly impossible to prevent.

They brute force a system by overwhelming it with sheer numbers clogging systems (such as login systems).

Unlike other cyberattacks which goal is often to ransom or steal information DDOS attacks are done to prevent service.

For extended outages, yes, it still happens from time to time. That usually isn’t determined until after the issues have been resolved and Customer Support isn’t involved in those discussions, but it tends to take at least a few days.

It really hasn’t. Though it can certainly seem like that. There have always been the occasional issues that pop up from time to time. Most folks notice when a maintenance goes long, but rarely when it completes several hours early.

This week as far as I can tell we’ve had 3 DDOS attacks and an issue with a canadian provider, now this (which does not appear to be a DDOS so far). Obviously we’d prefer it didn’t happen at all. Sorry for the frustration, folks.
