Locking stable flying but not skyriding to pathfinder is stupid

You think ground item fetch quests are engaging and fun?

No, The joke is that there’s a greater appeal to not buying the expansion and not paying a sub fee, than there is to doing that. Especially as a long term, self respecting player who just listened to Blizzard pitch Evergreen and Respecting Player’s Time while in the same breath announcing 3 incoming resets and grinds.

The Silly Part of the joke would be deciding to opt for paying for the privilege of playing ChoreGame.exe again by making a $50 purchased and maintaining a $15 sub fee. Can instead play MMORPG game.exe for free at my own pace, solo or with friends I make along the way.

Like, it’s really boiling down to those two options. Because I don’t need to be higher than level 20 (really, power creep is garbage and D&D Player here) and the game opens up from a completely different perspective when you make a different choice.

Somehow my choice also supports the idea of voting with my wallet and not playing the disposable part of the game.

You know I wish this game would go back to the old way…you had to run on foot for 40 levels before you got your first ground mount…I think it made a better players back then…just a feeling …the game was fun back then…not mind numbing press this button …press that button move two feet press other button…

Sometimes I wonder if it is just the pathfinder name that throws people into a tizzy, like if they changed it to trailblazer would we still have these issues?

Yeah I was about to say…are we talking about the same game?

It’s much less the name more so a flight model that is fundamentally incompatible to some players being the only method of air travel from the onset.

The truth is that the hornets nest should have never been tampered with in the first place!

Nope doesn’t matter what you call it …it still a restriction against those players with medical or physical issues caused by Dynamic flight aka dragon flying.

That is alright some of us won’t be beat down by Pathfinder our will is our bond.

And that hornets nest is getting bigger and bigger as the days go by…

I love skyriding and enjoy it far more than normal flying, but I can’t grasp what the point is in not enabling normal flight right out of the gate since skyriding is unlocked.

To me, at least, skyriding is better in most every way (except not being able to hover afk if I need to go grab something irl, and sometimes rarely running low on vigor if I get too crazy) and it is soooo much faster. Normal 310% flying feels like walking through mud, by comparison.

Locking normal flight to 80 just feels like more of the WoD era dev mindset of stamping their foot and saying “No! We don’t like it so we’re gonna be weird about it!”.

On a side note, they said in WoD that flight broke the game, made it less immersive and made the world feel small… then they gave us a vastly FASTER form of flight with no unlock restrictions and a vigor system that barely limits you at all.

This leads me to believe the devs hated flight because of probably the biggest player complaint I saw about it: afk hovering on PvP servers. Now whenever I see the devs being weird about normal flight I just imagine one of them in Pandaria screaming at his screen as a potential gank target hovers juuust out of reach, then vowing to stop that from happening by removing flight from the entire game.

It does if you read it and think about it.

No, it doesn’t at all. If you can fly on a dragon mount, you should be able to fly on all mounts. Some people have disabilities, this is inconsistent and not a valid argument.

This is just more of Ion’s “anti-flying” agenda. With WoD they wanted to reshape WoW so they didn’t plan for flying. Then they added it back in due to the intense backlash. From then on forward they added “Pathfinder” which you can only complete after one year of not being able to fly.
I would assume that quite some people stopped because of that, at least I know I played the start of Legion and BfA and then quit… because the using flightmaster and riding everywhere grated on my nerves. Only hopped back in once Pathfinder was about to be released.

In Legion we had one big island where you could fly all around. Then BfA split that typical “expansion island” into two, seemingly like showing the finger to people because between the two islands you can’t fly now. And Shadowlands was then the next step… each of the 5 zones are now their own little island… and you are forced to use flightmasters to travel between them. Nice job Ion, I know you and your guys are mad because players like to fly and you not want to let us.

You do know Ion didn’t become Lead Designer till after Legion launched right?

Yes I do. Thought he is listed as one of the “Directors” on Legion, but he is Designer since Mists of Pandaria. I know he was encounter designer in Wrath of the Lich King.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

But… I don’t like him. He seems to me like the typical Lawyer type, lol.

“Ion joined Blizzard just before Wrath of the Lich King launched and has worked on all raids and dungeons since then. In 2015 he rose from Lead Encounter Designer to Assistant Game Director, under Tom Chilton, and in late 2016 was promoted to Game Director when Chilton left the team for another Blizzard project.”

Tbh It’s just annoying when people baselessly bash people and things for no reason.

There is a lot of anti ion nonsense going around and he was literally the dude behind dungeons and raids until legion.
So he had no say on anything about flight or otherwise until then. And even then, legion was in development for awhile at that point, so he STILL didn’t have a say in it really.
If anything. You can start blaming him for the events of bfa and after lol.

i cant quest on some off my toons cause they dont have flying now so sad what this game has become.

And which is now completable on day 1, depending on how hard one pushes.

This is completely false and a total lie pathfinder is available on day one and it’s easy to achieve and the new zones are completely ground mount friendly.

You don’t like skyriding well I have good news for you steady flight is available to use on the dragon isles as of pre patch without the pathfinder achievement.

Might be, I didn’t like him when he showed his face first time.

I am sorry for not stating this correctly. When I played in Legion and BfA you had to wait a year until they added the full Pathfinder. So I didn’t lie.
I do not know how it was in Shadowlands or start Dragonflight, but I assume for Dragonflight it wasn’t that important since you got Dragonflight on day 1, or? I only play Dragonflight for 4 months, since close to the end of Season 3.

As to steady flying, I unlocked that already quite some time ago, and what a blessing it is when you do short distance flights.
