Evidence isn’t necessary when we know enough people are impacted by motion sickness or physical disability that BlizZard adds those accessibility features for DR.
That is why gating TBC normal flying which is also an accessibility feature is not reasonable. At all and frankly defies the prime directive of BlizZard team to make the game more inclusive and also more accessible.
If BlizZard is consistent on this issue of accessibility they will earn more trust with the community. And with this increased trust they gain credibility for decisions in the future in a form of social currency.
But by failing to communicate properly even on their own platforms and being inconsistent will actually lead to a domino effect of greater distrust. And less room to navigate with a player base less willing to go along with anything else they want to do game wise.
Not to mention, every time one of these flying threads fall into the depths of the forum, the same two people ALWAYS bump it up with some totally silly response to a random post from days earlier just to get it back to view as if it’s an actual issue.
It is not an accessibility feature, it is something that is used for reasons, one of which is accessibility.
Let me put it this way, if it was meant to be an accessibility feature, why doesn’t Blizzard list is under accessibility options? Accessibility options for accessibility features, locks for thigns that can be used for accessibility but are not features for such.
Or - hear me out now - remove ALL forms of Pathfinder, period. I have yet to see any good argument why its even in the game.
Maybe they can make a GIGANTIC monster called Pathfinder whom invades the capital city and we ALL fight to vanquish it! The reward could be a new mount for the victorious heroes who vanquished the disgusting beast!
This is why PF shouldn’t exist because it gives BlizZard ideas to do things that are questionable now and in the future.
They already initiated the rug pull with DR and in fact they are just getting started with how they are altering how it functions in TWW compared to DF.
I would argue that DF DR is superior than TWW DR in most ways. And right now only TBC normal flying comes out better in TWW compared to DF with more speed.
Let me take a side tangent to state if hover of TBC normal flying was OP then BlizZard would have never buffed the speed of TBC normal flying for TWW.
Being able to navigate faster to a pin point spot and hover would be more detrimental if you believe it to be OP or unbalanced.
So, this goes back to what I said earlier where dev A says this is what we are doing and then dev B say no this is what we are doing. Thus, contradicting each other while both giving separate interviews on separate third party websites with obscure journalists I have no idea who these people are.
The common sense thing to do and professional thing to do is to communicate on their own forums and platforms like the old BlizZard used to do.
Thanks! I completely didn’t know they already answered it in an interview. I had read about it months ago but didn’t think it was actually already out there where it was asked directly! Why are people even asking at this point?
If you did not see the linked vid, fair enough, if you have and still feel this way, well, good job, you just painted yourself as a whiney brat that is throwing a tantrum because their mother and/or father todl them no on something, which they did not want to hear.
It was a failed experiment of the WoD era where they wanted to do action RPG design for the open world and the ground and pound slog. The so called zenith of that “design vision” was the systemlands MAW where you could not even use a ground mount at the start. And you have limited amount of time to accomplish anything which meant you were punished exploring even by foot.
The inconsistency of claiming to ground players, taking away mounts or even gating an accessibility feature like TBC normal flying is why the player community has been awakened to these practices.
I’m not saying it should exist. I made up what I thought a funny way to vanquish Pathfinder forever, and spare the bruised ego of [the one who shall remain nameless].
If you’ll notice, the loudest and most common posters in the thread completely ignore the video I linked and continue to make arguments that Blizzard has given no reasons for their choice.
They do not want to discuss things, they want to rant and rave and claim victimhood.
I myself am disabled. My disabilities affect my hands and the amount of time I can play. I am still able to dragonride, I know some have motionsickness issues though. But if Dragon Riding/Sky Riding is causing you physical pain every time you use it then the rest of the game will too as your rotation is way more intense than dragon Riding.
There are options available to complete pathfinder without using Skyriding. Blizzard has given their reasons for why they continue to gate Static flying. Whether a person agrees with it or not is moot. The expansion is 3 weeks away, they’ve given what ground they are willing to. At this point I don’t see things changing.
I was no fan of the Maw, but I was sill able to explore and spend quite a bit of time there. But then I followed the advice given and treated it like extraction or snatch missions, get in, get what you are after, get out. Not Blizzard fault if people tried to go in, guns blazing, and had to beat a hasty retreat.
Let me add that this thread is very active because it is an integral topic for the game as TWW is on the minds of thousands.
That is why the top posters in this thread say it is trivial to complete PF, but at the same time keep coming back for more.
Reason why they keep coming back for more? They lost the narrative long ago.
We all know in our hearts of hearts that TBC normal flying does not need to be gated by PF. That is why from what I have been told this will be a greater topic of discussion in the near future.
This is what I’ve been trying to get at in these threads. They’re making it out like the game is impossible to play unless they can steady fly while leveling, but somehow people have been able to play the game for 20 years without these issues.
Somehow, the game became “unplayable” only during the leveling campaign for TWW. A very spurious circumstance indeed.
