The server issue is a problem that needs tackled altogether. Not a bandaid like LFD. Don’t disrespect the people who are suffering on low pop servers because of Blizzard sitting on their hands like that by going “LFD WILL FIX IT!”
So your argument is don’t play with randos. Only play with friends and guildies.
Thanks again for demonstrating why lfd is necessary.
By the way, if all you want to do is group with guildies, go ahead. Dungeon finder has zero impact on your ability to do so.
A bandaid is still something, and it was still a system that helped a lot with it. Not adding a system that does help is a bad idea, especially during the end content lull.
You’re right. I jumped the gun and made a jerk of myself. I didn’t articulate clearly but I was specifically referring to the #nochanges attitude as being irrational. When you took it, I kept the guns blazing on that front.
That said, you jump to insults at the drop of a hat.
You don’t get to fire off crap like
and then act all holier than thou.
Again, my point proves LFD is garbage. Having three tanks I have had some issues with random members of the community. Sometimes organized guild groups who pick up a tank. On my DPS alts like this and my hunter, I have witnessed the community take absolute dumps on a tank or healer that they do not know. I have seen this very random community make people give up on tanking when they want to try it.
LFD having zero accountability as they are random people from random servers who can roll need on everything, and absolutely troll the rest of the group with absolutely no repercussions for their garbage behavior destroy solid tanks who just quit queuing in LFD altogether and solely tank for guilds and friends.
On your LFD savior I have had groups of DPS roll need on my tank gear. I have had ret Paladin taunt my targets off of me. I’ve had random hunters MD the healer in an attempt to blow them up. I have had DPS pull for me, I have had people who haven’t won loot they wanted run ahead and pull 5 mobs and run back to group and drop group after they themselves died, or bubbled as a Paladin. I have had tanks sit in town spamming KICK ME to the group because they wanted to avoid the debuff because they hated a dungeon.
If Blizzard has to implement systems such as Call to Arms, Personal Loot, Deserter debuffs, kicking timers, and further make tanking and healing simple so as to attract people to do the role because the community is garbage to them, your LFD tool isn’t as great as you try and paint it to be.
I’ve played this game for 17 years and all I have to say is.
I do not want your luck, as that kind of stuff has been so rare I don’t even bother bringing it up.
Problem with that is this is Classic WoW.
Not retail.
We are past that phase and the people who played back then that voiced their opinions on what was good for WoW are probably no longer here.
But in the end not everything players suggest ever makes it to the devs ears.
Some do,when they provide valid points for or against.
But the problem here is that both players and devs use such a fallacy as ‘community’ to deprive people of the ability to do dungeons at pre end game levels (especially on smaller servers) is simply narrow minded.
In both the pro LFD threads I have explained why (and from personal experience) it’s a good idea but people automatically think “I don’t have that problem so it doesn’t matter”.
People don’t have to use it.
But the people who don’t want us to have it think that it’s a better option to,forgive my slightly exaggerated option, force people to do dungeons with us while we level or charge us to complete our quests in dungeons or boost us through dungeons.
Now some people might not mind but I’d feel bad making my max level guildie pop onto his lower level toon just to do a dungeon with me when he could be doing something more appropriate and exciting to him.
Or simply pulling the entire instance and mowing them all down in a heartbeat while we both take the time to loot everything.
Dunno about you but that would make me a selfish prick.
So yea, I’d rather be able to randomly queue for dungeons whilst doing quests and potentially finding people who actually want to do things at lower levels than skip over everything.
Well to be fair over the years I have tanked and healed solely in dungeons. Right now in TBC Classic I have:
Orc Prot Warrior 70
Tauren Feral Druid 70
Human Prot Paladin 70
And on top of that all but a druid healer, but only a priest and Paladin at level cap currently. Over the years involving WoW’s evolution I have tanked an awful lot of years. So it being less rare for me isn’t surprising.
I tanked from Vanilla til Wod, so it’s not that, I just think you pissed off the big man or something lol.
I have to assume people make that stuff up. I did probably 1000 dungeons the last year of Wrath and had not a single incident of someone sabotaging a dungeon run.
I had a few incidents where people would suddenly go afk in the middle of a dungeon. That was the extent of any drama.
With all due respect, every time I see this argument I imagine someone who is bleeding and the person with band aids saying “We don’t have the right tools we can’t fix that. No you can’t have band aids you need something better.”
Well, yes, but can you help me apply pressure to the wound and at least slap some bandaids on it to keep the blood from getting everywhere while we drive to the hospital? No? Great, thanks.
Blizzard has essentially said, “We’re not going to apply a fix for the problem. We know it exists, but the drawbacks of band aids make us not want to use them. So too bad.”
Weird I get treated just fine as a tank in pugs now… and it is a community of random players.
Look how long it took Blizzard to tackle the problem headon with Cross realm and linked servers. How many bandaids were slapped onto it to “fix” the problem. So they give them LFD. Does that help the server economy? Does that help the raiding scene? What does that do for guilds exactly? So what do we do next? Start implementing all the changes on retail? If you’re here screaming “Ah mah Gawd! LFD IS WRATH! GIMME THE WRATH!” but want to truly fix the issues they are plagued with, it took years upon years for Blizzard to actually get a fix in place because your bandaids didn’t help anywhere to the degree you think they did. So why not just skip all the garbage and just give them LFR, Cross realms, and the like now? Or isn’t that against the very experience you’re here wanting?
You are so lucky.
I had the same mage ninjaing the Needle Encrusted Scorpion from the Devourer of Souls in The Forge of Souls until I gave up trying for it.
Then there was a few loot stealing problems in Trial of the Champion because some shaman and hunter needed gold to pay for repair bills.
And then there was that ‘war’ Dath’remar had with Tichondrius and Frostmourne for some strange reason where several guilds from those servers would harass people from Dath’remar.
Oh man… I remember the Frostmourne Tich feud. The stories I could tell you.
You use the fix they used in Wrath
And your strawman of ‘let’s add everything from retail’ is something that you suggest. So you’re creating your own argument to counter.
You really need to work on your arguing points. I say “LFD won’t fix the problem.” and proceed to explain what truly fixed it for small servers after I mention it’s disrespectul to claim it’s a “No LFD problem” and this is what you give me? This tripe? Wow.
I have no idea why it even happened.
But one day I’d love to hear stories of it.
I’m a sucker for nostalgia both the good and the bad.
The claims of trolling in LFD have always been massively blown out of proportion. Just like now without LFD most people just want to get in and get the dungeon done, that’s it, they’re not there to waste anyone’s time particularly their own.
Toxic people assume everyone else is as toxic as they are.
