What about those of us who play pure DPS classes? Just re-roll?
Make this thing called “Friends” within the community. Get to know people who play those classes. Being social isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. On thisPaladin I just go out and toss random buffs. Sometimes I get a “TY” whisper and I ask if they’re on a group quest in that area. Or if they need the dungeon in said zone and invite them up if they do and finish forming the group. Friend list them, include them in what I do. Being Ret, I have multiple resto druid buddies for my rez alone.
I quest on my healers by riding around the zone using LFG chat for a group and asking a player killing mobs I need for an invite to do said quests. Sometimes we form a group, sometimes they end up tossing me random whispers later asking if I want to heal a dungeon.
My hunter I’ve done similar by bumping into a tank trying to do a quest. Ask if I can join to speed things up. Ask if they’re game to tank a dungeon or heal it if I form the rest of the group. BE SOCIAL
And when those friends aren’t available? Just twiddle your thumbs?

You are confusing friends with people who will drop whatever they’re doing whenever you want.

Wait, you can twiddle your thumbs waiting on an LFD timer but can’t twiddle your thumbs waiting on a friend?
Waiting? Not going to wait for someone to play with my 5th alt at 3 pm on a wed. If they’re not around, I’m going to try to pug, if that doesn’t work, just log of and not play.
It’s just on feasible to expect guilds and friends to fix everything.
So riddle me this then, Batman. If you can quest while waiting on the LFD timer. Why can you not do your current activities while waiting on a friend?
Because even if you have friends there’s no saying they have a character around the level you are or wanting to play at the time you want want to play?
Like it’s not the end all be all, sometimes you HAVE to pug and pugging right now sucks.
LFD also doesn’t prevent you playing with your friends, in fact, in my experience, it makes it more fun.

So are you suggesting that they don’t implement a fix at all? Personally I think they should just jump straight to merging servers and get it over and done with, but I acknowledge that there will be issues. But there are issues now and there will probably be issues when Wrath launches, so …
Find a fix and implement it. At least with LFD we know what to expect. Out of hundreds and hundreds of dungeons I remember about three instances of ninja-looting that stuck with me, and one bona fide instance of trolling the rest of the dungeon.
It’s just not as bad as some people want us to believe.
I’m saying they clearly thought as you did with “LFD can fix things” and found out it fixed very little. I believe your issue is “Seeing the forest, for the trees.” You see a small part of it. And you don’t care about the bigger problem as your solution benefits you and that is the furthest you have to go with it.
I merely pointed out it’s disrespectful to use it as your argument for LFD when it is far larger to them than just “I can’t find a group for Deadmines.”
People literally using an add on and trying to find groups people spamming groups for over 2 and a 1/2 hours for a tank and on top of that.
Before we talk about the world buff meta The toxic pvp system that literally formed mafia’s.
End on top of that people wanting higher gear requirements then the content actually needs to complete just because they want to smash it easily.
Or if the contents too hard people just won’t do it cough cough TBC heroics before the Nerf.
And people burning out on SSC and TK prenerf I mean are you joking fine no it is not fine it has not been fine for the last 3 years there’s been major problems are you kidding what game are you playing bro.

I’m not against LFD as I’ve stated in many other threads. Personally were it up to me I think right now it should be for 1 to 60 content to get people into TBC content. Prepatch, give us TBC content. And then once we get TotGC give us the Wrath content, and then unlock it straight away with the ICC dungeons as it was merely a catchup mechanic.
My problem is every single argument I see, they speak like this tool is the second coming of Christ and it fixed all of WoW’s gaming woes, or it was what brought 500k people to WoW… and it isn’t.
You’re the one drastically conflating the issue and adding 100 other variables. We’re not taking about them. We’re talking about dungeon finder.
Ret Paladin here. I suffered that. Guild and friends fixed that. You know what also fixes the problem? Make your own tank or healing class. Making your own groups. Believe it or not a fair few people who tank just don’t want to go to the hassle of forming a group and will join one the moment they see everything else is laid out for them ready to go. There is no “One size fits all solution.” to the problem. But there is plenty that can be done by the community to fix their own created problems.
And I’ve said give it to us in icc like originally, never asked for anything different

You don’t give two shakes of a dog’s tail about the problems themselves. You want dungeon finder and you’ll unceremoniously grab onto anything you can as an excuse to have it.
Yeah OK so what you’re telling me is you only play when you’re Friends are on And you’re telling me whenever you make a group you can actually get it without spamming I would find that very hard to believe speaking from someone that is a protection palatin that runs into that believe it or not that happens.
As far as making your own healer your own tank your own DPS Yes so what you’re telling the answer to a person finding a group for something make a different class if a different class wow that makes complete sense OK.
And you may be right In the stands that there is no one solid solution because yes there are problems with RFD which doesn’t completely solve the issue but it’s a sure alot up better than what we have now.
Which is people spamming trade chat for hours trying to get into get into a group people not wanting specific classes or specs because they are not optimal.
Or at the gear level that those specific people want regardless of the fact that they’re completely fine for the content that they’re trying to do.
Like it or not RFD does help with a lot of that as far as the social aspect are you kidding me And I say this as a tank Most of the time when I talk in a dungeon it’s hi LOS Mark X or skull For CC targets.
And every once in a great while and when I say everyone’s going well I mean once every I don’t know 100 groups.
I will have some type of social interaction but it’s not very common and yes I may have some small talk but I never talk to that person again they never wish for me despite me saying go ahead and feel free to put me on your friend’s list or things of that nature.
So really if we’re really talking about dungeons because that’s what LFD would affect There’s not really any social interaction to be had.
As far as toxicity people are gonna be toxic regardless LFD doesn’t make people toxic those people are going to be toxic with or without.

I continue to do other activities and have a separate tab for LFG I keep open with a message macro I’ll drop into chat every few minutes while I quest or farm materials while keeping an eye out for groups myself. I know I know… I’m a monster.
Your strawman argument really isn’t my concern. Inventing problems and saying, “LFD doesn’t fix it” makes no sense. It deals with what it deals with.
