LGBTQ+ Megathread & Lounge (Part 3)

I opened up Discord today and saw a TON of rage over The Acolyte Show. I’m just sitting here like :dracthyr_tea:

I mean. All I know about the acolyte and my opinions are

1: Lesbians making babies with the force? Aight.
2: But then they actually mess with the timeline, that I don’t like.

But I’m just a mega casual fan. I can live without Star Wars. I don’t live and breathe it.

LOL I love that video. That is actually me when I watch movies or read stories because I am too trusting of the characters on them. I like to think well if I like somebody, they probably have some good reason for doing that awful thing, or they’ll do some justification later. It’s very confusing for me when they start out with a very likable character and then suddenly make them bad.

Meanwhile episode 4 of this season of The Boys just made me happy because the Homelander scenes are soooooooooorta like something I wrote for a Rosenivy idea where he gets some payback.

The rare time where Homelander scenes are a tension release for me rather than the build up.

To be fair. Star Wars has had Retcons, recontextualized stories, Contradicting stories, and different ‘cannons’ since the days of George Lucas. The Timeline has shifted more than a Resto druid trying to be top DPS in WoW

Ye. Kinda why I don’t bother much with it. Just got other things to keep my attention on.

That’s fair, I am a very casual fan as well. I just tend to enjoy things for what they are :dracthyr_nod:

The Acolyte was none of those. It does not even respect the source material. The rage is kind of warranted in this case.

I don’t watch the boys… iirc I made it through the first season… but no idea if that’s actually true… and that doesn’t bother me, much like game of thrones it just got boring to me.

Now Star Wars…

I like the idea of the setting, but blights are the fans a problem. I once dared to suggest that the setting would be better if we got rid of the “darkside” = evil and “lightside” = good bs and blights me you’d think I was threatening their kids or something.

That said I like the Acolyte, but I didn’t like Andor and didn’t make it past a couple of episodes of boba before I walked away and still haven’t seen Asoka… I’m probably not going to like it based on what I’ve seen.

Eh, I don’t the energy to be outraged over a piece of fiction. I have much bigger problems in my life.

Ahsoka was actually very good for me. Explores a lot of the deeper nature of The Force. I can’t wait to see the next season of it. Sadly we have to wait till after both Acolyte and Skeleton Crew before we get more.

That’s nice.

You’re essentially gutting the entire core of the world building. Utterly throwing away the entire definition of what makes a Jedi and a Sith.

Any Doctor Who fans in here? Anyone watch today’s Season Finale!?

Yep, that’s the part I’m leery of. Could be good, but I’m very off put by the redemption of child killers… so seeing Vader walking around doesn’t sit well with me.

I loved playing my Lightside Sith Inquisitor. She was a lovely person who truly loved her people and worked to make a better future, it’s really a shame she and Vett couldn’t have hooked up that would have been perfect, two free women raising heck and having fun. Maybe one day I’ll go back and see how the later stories are for her… unlikely but I also never planned on returning to WoW.

Dr Who is one of those “I don’t usually go here. But I respect it.” things for me. I know the show lasted that long for a reason.

I just don’t really like time travel related stories.

The most I know about Dr Who was because I followed a my little pony tumblr blog about a Discorded version of The Doctor as a pony.

That’s fair.

They’re the people who uniornically think homelander is a good person and also the imperium of man in warhammer 40k is good.

ME! It was really good!

(Who the eff is misses FLOOD?!?!!)

So far imo Homelander only had 2 wins

1: Getting Ryan somewhere else when he was clearly stressing about crowds of people watching him ( He doesn’t do this anymore but at least for a brief moment he knew what Ryan was going thru )

2: Just everything he did in episode 4 of season 4 but again. That’s just my opinion. His violence was justified this one time lol

Sometimes I wish I had gotten into series like the ones described here. I really have 0 frame of reference for these things. I like reading what y’all saying though.

My theory is she’s one of the Outer Gods like Toy Maker and the others. I think in the next season we’ll figure it out, along with seeing the return of The Doctor’s Granddaughter.
